A Bedroom Wardrobe Installation in Radlett
For this installation in Radlett, Hertfordshire, the customer had chosen a Bloomsbury 40K Size 4 Digital Safe to be fitted neatly inside a bedroom wardrobe.
The Size 4 weighs 61kg and provides 70 litres of internal storage with one removable shelf. It is independently attack tested and certified to EN14450 S2, with recommended insurance ratings of £4,000 for cash and £40,000 for valuables.
The wardrobe position allowed the safe to be fixed in two different ways: structurally through the rear into the brick wall behind the wardrobe, and additionally through the base into the wardrobe as a joinery base fixing.
Four Rear Fixings Through to the Brick Wall
The Bloomsbury 40K Size 4 has four pre-drilled fixing holes in the rear of the safe, and all four were used for the structural wall fixing on this installation.
After marking the fixing points, our installer drilled the four fixing holes through the wardrobe rear panel and into the solid brick wall behind it. The safe was then positioned and aligned to the drilled holes and then secured using four expanding anchor bolts through the rear fixing holes.
This meant that although the safe was housed inside the bedroom wardrobe, its main rear anchoring passed beyond the furniture and directly into the fabric of the building.
Four Additional Joinery Fixings Through the Base
This model also has four pre-drilled fixing holes in the base, and these were used to provide a second set of fixings into the wardrobe itself.
Four coach screws were fitted through the base fixing holes and tightened down into the wardrobe base. These were joinery fixings, meaning they secured the safe to the furniture rather than directly to the building structure.
Together with the four rear expanding anchor bolts into the brick wall, this gave the installation eight fixing points in total while keeping the safe neatly positioned within the wardrobe.
Finished, Cleaned and Ready to Use
Once all four rear anchor bolts and four base coach screws had been tightened, our installer cleaned the work area of any remaining drilling dust or installation debris.
Finally, the customer was shown how to programme and operate the digital keypad, together with how to use the emergency override keys if ever required, and our installer gave them their certificate of installation before leaving.
