A Larger S2 Safe for an Under-Stair Cupboard
For this installation in Biddenham, Bedfordshire, the customer required a large safe installed in a hidden location under the stairs. After assessing the property and going over the safe delivery walkthrough we suggested the Bloomsbury 40K Size 5 Digital Safe, which provides a large storage capacity and digital locking.
The Size 5 is the largest model in the Bloomsbury 40K range, weighing 72kg and providing approximately 85 litres of internal storage with two removable shelves. It is independently certified to EN14450 S2 and carries recommended insurance ratings of £4,000 for cash and £40,000 for valuables.
The cupboard gave the customer a discreet position for the safe while still leaving the safe easily accessible when required.
Four Base Fixing Points Into Solid Concrete
The Bloomsbury 40K Size 5 has four pre-drilled fixing holes in its base, and all four were used on this installation.
With the safe positioned correctly in the under-stair cupboard, our installer marked the four base fixing points before moving the safe away from the work area and drilling into the concrete floor beneath. The solid concrete provided an excellent structural surface for this type of installation.
After repositioning and aligning the safe to the drilled holes, four expanding anchor bolts were then fitted through the base of the safe, through the laminate flooring and into the concrete underneath, giving the safe a strong four-point fixing directly to the fabric of the building.
Securely Anchored in the Final Position
Once the four expanding anchors had been tightened, the safe was firmly secured to the concrete floor in its permanent position beneath the stairs.
Using all four base fixing points spread the fixing across the footprint of the safe and made full use of the substantial concrete floor beneath the cupboard.
The finished position kept the safe neatly out of immediate view while making good use of an area of the home that might otherwise have remained as general under-stair storage.
Finished, Demonstrated and Ready to Use
After the installation was complete, our installer cleaned the cupboard and surrounding area and removed any dust or installation debris.
The customer was then shown how to programme and operate the digital keypad, together with how to use the emergency override keys if ever required and how to store them safely away from the safe itself.
Before leaving, our installer made sure the customer was comfortable using the safe and gave them their certificate of installation.
