A Large S2 Safe Installed in a Bedroom Corner
For this installation in Lymington, Hampshire, our customer required a large safe with a digital lock and chose the Bloomsbury 40K Size 5 Digital Safe. It is the largest model in the Bloomsbury 40K range, providing 85 litres of internal storage with two removable shelves.
The safe is independently attack tested and certified to EN14450 S2, with recommended insurance ratings of £4,000 for cash and £40,000 for valuables.
The Bloomsbury 40K Size 5 has four pre-drilled fixing holes in the rear and four in the base, and on this installation all eight fixing points were used.
Four Rear Expanding Anchor Bolts Into the Wall
The chosen position was in the corner of a bedroom in the property. With the safe positioned against the rear and side wall, our installer marked the four rear and base fixing points as well as marking the edges of the safe where the skirting board needed trimming.
Before fixing could begin, the safe was moved to the side and the skirting board along both the rear wall and the side wall was carefully trimmed so that the safe could sit as close to the walls as possible. Our installer then drilled the marked fixing points.
The safe was then repositioned and secured through all four rear fixing holes into the wall, providing four substantial structural fixing points across the back of the safe.
Four More Anchor Bolts Through the Base Into Concrete
The base fixing was equally substantial. Although the bedroom was carpeted, the structural floor beneath was concrete, giving our installer a solid fixing surface directly below the safe.
Four expanding anchor bolts were installed through the safe's four base fixing holes, passing through the carpet and anchoring directly into the concrete underneath.
Together with the four rear anchors, this gave the safe eight structural fixing points in total: four into the wall and four into the concrete floor.
Eight Fixing Points, Then a Full Customer Handover
Once all eight expanding anchor bolts had been tightened, our installer cleaned away any remaining drilling dust and debris.
Finally, the customer was shown how to programme and operate the digital keypad, how to use the emergency override keys if ever required, and was given their certificate of installation before our installer left.
