A First Floor Corner Installation in Sevenoaks
For this installation in Sevenoaks, Kent, the customer had chosen a Brattonsound Sentinel Plus RD7+ gun safe and wanted it positioned neatly into the corner of a first floor room to save space.
The RD7+ is an extra-deep safe designed to accommodate scoped rifles, with external dimensions of 1308mm high, 407mm wide and 346mm deep and a weight of 46kg.
Positioning the safe tightly into the corner kept it close against both walls while leaving the front completely accessible for normal use.
Trimming the Skirting for a Close Wall Fit
Before fixing the safe, the skirting board on both walls on the corner needed to be trimmed. Leaving the skirting in place would have held the safe away from the walls and created an unnecessary gap behind and alongside it.
Our installer carefully removed only the sections required for the footprint of the safe, allowing its rear and side to sit much closer to the walls.
With the skirting neatly trimmed, the safe could be moved into its final position and the fixing points marked ready for drilling.
Four Wall Anchors and Four Floor Fixings
The rear of the safe was secured into the brick wall using four expanding anchor bolts. Each fixing passed through the safe and into the solid brickwork behind, providing four strong structural wall fixings.
The base was then secured to the timber floorboards using four coach bolts, giving a further four fixing points through the bottom of the safe.
Using both the rear and base fixing positions gave this installation eight separate fixing points in total, while the trimmed skirting allowed the safe to remain close to both walls in the corner of the room.
Finished, Demonstrated and Ready to Use
Once all eight fixings had been tightened, our installer cleaned the work area and the customer was shown how to operate the key lock and how to look after and store the supplied keys.
Before leaving, our installer made sure the customer was comfortable using the safe and gave them their certificate of installation.
