A Practical Under-Stair Position for the Gun Safe
For this installation in Fareham, Hampshire, the customer chose a Brattonsound Sentinel VS3 and wanted it fitted discreetly inside an under-stair storage cupboard but wanted it fitted horizontally rather than vertically.
The low-profile shape of the VS3 suited the available space well and allowed the gun safe to sit horizontally within the cupboard without taking over the rest of the storage area.
The floor was finished with laminate, but beneath that was solid concrete, giving our installer a strong structural fixing surface for the gun safe.
Drilling Through the Laminate Into the Concrete
Once the gun safe had been positioned correctly, the six base fixing points were marked so that the holes could be drilled accurately through the laminate flooring and into the concrete beneath.
The laminate itself was only the finished floor covering; the expanding anchors needed to engage with the structural concrete below in order to provide the secure fixing required for the installation.
Our installer drilled each fixing position to the required depth, cleared away the drilling dust and then returned the gun safe to its final position ready for anchoring.
Six Expanding Anchor Bolts Into the Concrete Floor
With the gun safe back in position, six expanding anchor bolts were installed through the base, through the laminate flooring and into the concrete floor underneath.
Using all six base fixings spread the anchoring across the gun safe and secured it directly to the solid concrete substrate underneath while preserving the look of the laminate flooring.
Once tightened, the gun safe was firmly secured in the under-stair cupboard while remaining neatly contained within the available storage space.
Installation Checked and Handed Over
After the fixing work was complete, our installer then cleaned any drilling dust or installation debris before handover.
The customer was shown the gun safe's key locking operation and advised how to safely store the keys before giving their certificate of installation.
