Why the Brattonsound Sentinel Plus SL5+ Was Recommended

London & Home Counties Safes recently supplied and professionally installed a Brattonsound Sentinel Plus SL5+ Gun Safe for a certificate holder in Fleet, Hampshire GU51. The customer required police-approved storage for up to five shotguns or rifles, positioned discreetly in the corner of an existing carpeted room.

The Sentinel Plus SL5+ is built and tested to exceed the requirements of BS 7558:1992. It features fully welded steel construction, a reinforced door, five-point locking and a seven-lever double-throw key lock.

This locking-top model also includes a separately lockable internal compartment for ammunition, bolts and smaller accessories. Its tall, narrow profile made it suitable for the available corner without taking up excessive floor space. Skirting Board Alteration for a Flush Installation

Before fixing the cabinet, our installation team carefully trimmed the skirting board at the base of the wall. This allowed the rear of the cabinet to sit flush against the solid brickwork rather than standing forward from the wall.

The close fit produced a neater installation and reduced the accessible gap behind the cabinet, helping to limit potential leverage around the rear fixing area.

Four Rear Wall Bolts and Two Floor Fixings

Four high-strength expanding bolts were installed through the rear fixing holes and directly into the solid brick wall behind the cabinet. These provided the principal structural fixings.

Two additional heavy-duty screws were installed through the cabinet’s base fixing holes, through the carpet and into the floorboards beneath. These base screws added further stability and helped keep the cabinet firmly positioned against the wall.

This six-point fixing arrangement securely anchored the cabinet and helped resist levering and removal.

Key Lock and Ammunition Compartment Demonstration

Once the cabinet had been securely installed, we demonstrated the seven-lever double-throw lock and showed the customer how to operate the door and locking system correctly.

We also demonstrated the separately lockable internal top compartment, which can be used to store ammunition, bolts and smaller accessories. The customer was advised to keep the main cabinet keys and the compartment key secure and accessible only to authorised certificate holders.
