For this specialist project in Wandsworth (SW18), we installed a Brattonsound Sentinel Plus SS5+ gun safe, a highly regarded choice for residents requiring police-approved storage for up to five shotguns or rifles. This model is engineered to meet the stringent BS 7558/92 security standard, featuring a vault-style door reinforced with a 5-point locking system and a full-length anti-jemmy bar. The internal layout includes a high-density foam divider to keep barrels upright and an internal shelf for the separate storage of ammunition or smaller accessories.

Discretion is often a top priority for firearms owners in London, and this installation utilized a deep wardrobe to keep the unit hidden from general view. As shown in the photos, we successfully integrated the tall, slim cabinet into the left-hand section of the closet. Despite the aesthetic integration, the safe remains fully anchored to the building's core structure. To achieve the immovable "bolt-down" status required for a firearms license, we utilized four rear fixing holes to tie the unit into the masonry wall with expanding anchors and two strong screws through the base fixing holes to secure it into the wardrobe floor.

We concluded the installation by demonstrating the smooth operation of the 7-lever double-bitted key lock, which provides a traditional yet incredibly secure point of access. Our team ensured the client was fully briefed on the best practices for maintaining the safe's integrity and preparing for a potential Firearms Officer inspection. Wandsworth, cantered within the SW18 postcode, is a major district of South West London that stretches from the banks of the River Thames southwards toward the open spaces of the common. It is bordered by Putney to the west, Battersea to the east, and Earlsfield to the south, serving as a vibrant residential and commercial heart for the borough that shares its name. The area is highly accessible, with Wandsworth Town railway station providing frequent services to London Waterloo in under fifteen minutes. Nearby, Earlsfield station offers further rail links, while the East Putney and Southfields Underground stations on the District Line are within easy reach. For those preferring the river, the Thames Clipper serves Wandsworth Riverside Quarter pier, offering a scenic and unique commuting route into the City and Canary Wharf. The name Wandsworth is derived from the River Wandle, which meets the Thames here; in the Domesday Book of 1086, it was recorded as "Wandesorde," meaning the enclosure of a man named Waendel. Throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, the fast-flowing River Wandle turned the area into a major industrial centre, hosting over a hundred watermills used for everything from grinding grain to dyeing textiles. Wandsworth became a haven for Huguenot refugees from France, who brought specialized skills in hat-making and silk-weaving that bolstered the local economy. Perhaps its most famous industrial legacy is brewing; the Ram Brewery was established in the 16th century and claimed to be the oldest site in Britain with continuous brewing until 2006. In the 19th century, the district underwent significant Victorian expansion, transitioning from an industrial powerhouse into a sought-after residential suburb, though it famously retains its historic prison, HMP Wandsworth, which has stood as a local landmark since 1851. Modern Wandsworth offers a compelling mix of riverside charm and contemporary leisure. The Ram Quarter, developed on the site of the former brewery, has transformed the historic industrial buildings into a bustling hub of shops, riverside apartments, and a museum dedicated to the area's brewing heritage. For greenery and recreation, Wandsworth Common provides nearly 180 acres of ponds, woodland, and paths, including the popular "Toast Rack"—a collection of highly desirable Edwardian streets bordering the park. Nearby, King George’s Park offers beautiful formal gardens, a lake, and extensive sports facilities along the River Wandle. Shopping and entertainment are cantered at the Southside Wandsworth centre, which features an array of high-street brands alongside Gravity Wandsworth, a massive indoor adventure park with e-karting and bowling. Gastronomy is a major draw, with the area around Old York Road offering a "village" feel filled with independent boutiques, artisan cafes, and the award-winning restaurant Chez Bruce, located just on the edge of the common.
