A Compact S2 Safe for an Under-Stairs Cupboard
Our customer in Poole wanted a compact digital safe for jewellery, cash, passports and other household valuables, but did not want to lose useful space in one of the main rooms. The under-stairs cupboard was the obvious place to look first, and after checking the available space and the construction around it, we recommended the Burton Safes Torino S2 Size 2E Digital Safe.
The Torino Size 2E is independently attack tested and certified to EN14450 S2, with recommended insurance ratings of £4,000 for cash and £40,000 for valuables. At 35.5kg with 31 litres of internal storage, it gives a useful amount of capacity without demanding a huge amount of cupboard space.
Four Expanding Anchors into the Block Wall
The Torino S2 Size 2E has four pre-drilled rear fixing holes, and all four were used for this installation.
With the safe positioned in the cupboard, our installer marked the rear and base fixing points before moving the safe away to drill the block wall and cement floor. After clearing the drilling dust, the safe was returned to its final position, aligned and secured through the rear with four heavy-duty expanding anchor bolts.
That gave the safe four direct structural fixings into the wall behind the safe. Once tightened, the rear of the safe was held firmly against the wall ready for the second stage of the installation.
Four More Anchors Through the Base into the Cement Floor
The safe also has four pre-drilled fixing holes in the base, so there was no reason to leave them unused. Our installer fitted a further four expanding anchor bolts through the base fixing holes.
This meant the safe was secured in two ways, with four anchors into the block wall and another four into the floor. Eight structural fixings improved the removal resistance and meant it was fixed to the fabric of the building at both rear and base of the safe.
Eight Fixings Later, Ready for Use
The Burton Torino S2 Size 2E provides 31 litres of internal capacity and is supplied with one removable shelf. Its flush-fitting keypad and door also help keep the depth to a minimum, which is particularly useful when fitting a safe into a confined storage area.
Once all eight expanding anchors had been tightened, our installer cleaned away the remaining drilling dust and installation debris.
The customer was then shown how to programme and operate the digital keypad, including the emergency override keys and external battery features if they should ever be needed. Before leaving, our installer gave the customer their certificate of installation.

About Poole, Dorset BH16
