A Compact S2 Rated Safe for a Wardrobe Installation
For this installation in Reading, Berkshire, the customer had a wardrobe with a raised structural wooden platform inside it. They thought it would be an ideal hiding place for the Burton Safes Torino S2 Size 2E Digital Safe which could be fitted on top of the raised platform.
The Torino Size 2E is independently certified to EN14450 S2 and carries recommended insurance ratings of £4,000 for cash and £40,000 for valuables. Its compact dimensions and flush-fitting keypad make it particularly suitable for bedroom and wardrobe positions.
The wardrobe had an elevated timber base, so our installer planned to use both the safe's rear and base fixing points: wall fixings at the rear, together with additional joinery fixings through the base into the timber platform.
Four Rear Wall Fixings
The Burton Torino Size 2E has four pre-drilled fixing holes in the rear of the safe, and all four were used for the wall fixing on this installation.
The rear wall inside the wardrobe was plasterboard, so our installer used four heavy duty plasterboard fixings to secure the safe through the rear and into the wall behind.
Using all four rear fixing points spread the fixing across the back of the safe.
Four Additional Joinery Fixings Through the Base
The safe also has four pre-drilled fixing holes in its base. On this installation, all four were used as additional joinery fixings into the elevated wooden wardrobe base.
Four coach bolts were fitted through the safe's base fixing holes and into the timber below, helping to hold the lower part of the safe firmly against the wardrobe platform.
These base fixings were joinery fixings which complemented the four rear wall fixings and helped produce a very solid finished installation.
Finished, Cleaned and Ready to Use
The Burton Safes Torino S2 Size 2E weighs 35.5kg and provides 31 litres of internal storage with one removable shelf. Its external dimensions are approximately 277mm high, 403mm wide and 355mm deep.
Once all eight fixing points had been completed, our installer cleaned the wardrobe and surrounding area, and removed any drilling dust and installation debris.
The customer was then shown how to programme and operate the digital keypad, together with how to use the emergency override key if ever required. Before leaving, our installer gave the customer their certificate of installation.

About Reading, Berkshire RG2
