A Larger S2 Safe for an Out-of-the-Way Storage Space
The customer in Tewin wanted a reasonably spacious digital safe for household valuables, but also wanted it positioned somewhere discreet and out of the way. After discussing the available locations, we recommended the Burton Safes Torino S2 Size 4E Digital Safe and the eaves storage area in their property as the most practical installation location.
This model is independently certified to EN14450 S2 and carries recommended insurance ratings of £4,000 for cash and £40,000 for valuables. It also offers 70 litres of internal capacity, which makes it a useful step up when a smaller safe seems to be limiting.
Four Expanding Anchor Bolts Through the Rear
The Torino Size 4E has four pre-drilled fixing holes in the rear, and all four were used on this job.
Once the safe had been positioned and the fixing points marked, our installer drilled the wall behind and prepared the four anchor positions. The safe was then moved back into place and secured with four heavy-duty expanding anchor bolts through the rear fixing holes.
Using all four rear points spread the fixing across the back of the safe and pulled it firmly towards the wall.
Four Additional Coach Screws into the Timber Floor
The safe also has four pre-drilled fixing holes in the base, so we used those as well. Four coach screws were driven through the safe base and into the wooden floor beneath.
These floor fixings complemented the four wall anchors and helped keep the safe firmly located in the eaves space. In total, eight fixing points were used: four through the rear and four through the base.
The finished installation made good use of an area that might otherwise have been little more than storage space, while keeping the safe accessible enough for normal use without making it an obvious feature of the room.
Finished, Cleaned and Ready for Use
The Burton Torino S2 Size 4E weighs 61kg, provides 70 litres of internal storage and is supplied with one removable shelf. Its flush-fitting keypad also helps to limit the depth of the safe, which is useful in storage areas where every bit of space counts.
After the installation our installer showed the customer how to programme and operate the digital keypad, how to use the emergency override keys if ever required, and how best to store them. Before leaving, our installer gave the customer their certificate of installation.
