Two Burton Eurovault Aver LFS Grade 1 Size 1 Digital Safes Installed in Childs Hill, Barnet

(case study 01541)

Why Two Grade 1 Safes Were Recommended

London & Home Counties Safes recently supplied and professionally installed two Burton Eurovault Aver LFS Grade 1 Size 1 Digital Safes for a homeowner in Childs Hill, within the London Borough of Barnet NW2.

The customer required two separate secure-storage locations within the property, with each safe discreetly incorporated into existing dark wood cabinetry. This allowed personal and business items, different categories of valuables or items belonging to separate authorised users to be stored independently.

Each safe is independently tested and certified to EN 1143-1 Grade 1 and is normally assigned its own recommended insurance rating of £10,000 for cash or £100,000 for valuables. The two ratings should be considered separately and should not automatically be combined. Customers should confirm the required security grade, individual safe rating and installation conditions with their own insurer before purchasing.

First Safe Installed Inside Dark Wood Cabinetry

The first safe was positioned inside a dark wood cabinet, allowing it to remain discreet while still being convenient to access. Its light grey finish provided a clean contrast with the surrounding cabinetry.

This first safe was secured through its bottom fixing hole and into the cupboard base. This wording reflects the installation as completed; the available photographs and original installation notes do not identify the structural material beneath the cupboard base.

The Burton Eurovault Aver Size 1 measures approximately 340mm high, 500mm wide and 345mm deep, provides 24 litres of internal storage and weighs approximately 93kg. Its compact dimensions made it suitable for the available cabinet space.

Electronic Lock, Removable Shelf and Optional Interior Light

Each safe is fitted with a high-security electronic lock certified to VdS Class 2 and EN 1300 Class B. The programmable lock provides secure keyless access and includes a low-battery warning.

The first safe was also fitted with an optional Automatic Magnetic Safe Light, available as an additional accessory. The light illuminates the interior when the door is opened, making smaller items easier to locate when the safe is installed inside a darker cupboard.

The removable, non-adjustable shelf creates two practical storage levels for jewellery boxes, watches, passports, cash and important documents. The model is also independently certified to EN 15659 LFS 30P, providing up to 30 minutes’ fire protection for paper documents.

Second Safe Installed in a Separate Part of the Barnet Property

The second Burton Eurovault Aver Grade 1 Size 1 Digital Safe was installed in a separate part of the same Childs Hill property. Providing two secure locations gave the owners greater flexibility while keeping each safe as an independently rated security unit.

The contents stored in each safe should remain within that individual safe’s recommended rating unless the customer’s insurer has specifically agreed otherwise.

Walk-In Wardrobe Installation

The second safe was positioned on a wooden shelf within the property’s walk-in wardrobe. This kept the safe at a convenient height while allowing it to remain discreet among the surrounding fitted furniture.

The dark wood wardrobe structure provided a neat installation setting, while the safe remained accessible for regular use without occupying floor space elsewhere in the room.

Rear Wall Anchor and Additional Base Fixing

For the second safe, a hole was drilled through the wardrobe rear panel and into the wall behind it. A strong expanding anchor bolt was then installed through the safe’s rear fixing point and fastened into the wall.

An additional fixing was installed through the bottom of the safe and into the wooden wardrobe shelf. The rear wall anchor provided the principal structural fixing, while the base fixing added further stability within the wardrobe.

Once both safes had been installed, we helped the owners set their individual digital access codes and demonstrated the normal locking and unlocking procedure. We also explained the low-battery warning and how to replace the lock batteries when required.

About Childs Hill and Barnet

Childs Hill is a residential district in the south-west of the London Borough of Barnet, within the NW2 postcode area and close to Cricklewood, Golders Green and Hampstead. The settlement has medieval origins, and the name is thought to be connected with a local family called Child.

During the eighteenth century, Childs Hill became known for brick and tile making, supplying building materials for nearby areas. An optical telegraph station also operated on the hill during the nineteenth century as part of a communication route between the Admiralty and Great Yarmouth.

Finchley Road was completed during the early nineteenth century, and later improvements in bus, tram and railway transport encouraged the area’s development from farmland into a North-West London suburb. Laundries also became an important local industry during the nineteenth century.

Childs Hill Park provides local open space and recreational facilities, while the district is also close to Golders Hill Park, Hampstead Heath and other green spaces across Barnet and neighbouring Camden.

Childs Hill is an important Barnet service area for London & Home Counties Safes. We supply and professionally install home safes, jewellery safes and higher-security Eurograde safes throughout Childs Hill, Cricklewood, Golders Green, Hampstead and surrounding parts of the London Borough of Barnet.
