Burton Eurovault Aver LFS Grade 1 Size 3 Digital Safe Installed in a Wardrobe in Whetstone
(case study 01375)
Upgrading the Customer’s Existing Safe
London & Home Counties Safes recently completed another installation in Whetstone, North London N20, where our company was originally established more than 30 years ago.
The customer was an existing client who already owned a smaller safe but required additional storage and an upgrade to a Eurograde 1 model. We therefore supplied and professionally installed a Burton Eurovault Aver LFS Grade 1 Size 3 Digital Safe.
Before installing the replacement safe, we removed the customer’s existing smaller safe and repositioned it elsewhere within the property. This allowed the customer to retain the original safe while upgrading the main storage position to the larger Grade 1 model.
Why the Burton Eurovault Aver Grade 1 Size 3 Was Recommended
The Eurovault Aver is independently tested and certified to EN 1143-1 Grade 1 and is normally assigned a recommended insurance rating of £10,000 for cash or £100,000 for valuables.
It is also certified to EN 15659 LFS 30P, providing up to 30 minutes’ fire protection for paper documents. Customers should confirm the required grade, monetary rating and installation conditions with their own insurer before purchasing.
Safe Positioned on the Left Side of the Wardrobe
The new safe was positioned on the left-hand side of the wardrobe. This allowed the safe door to open without striking the wardrobe door.
Placing the safe on the right-hand side would have restricted the safe-door movement, so the left-hand position was selected to provide clear and convenient access.
One Large Expanding Anchor into the Solid Brick Wall
The safe was bolted through the back of the cupboard and wardrobe into the solid brick wall behind it using one large expanding anchor.
The solid brick wall provided the structural fixing substrate, while the wardrobe panel was passed through to reach the masonry.
The large masonry anchor provided a substantial structural fixing and helped resist the safe being pulled or levered away from the wall.
Grade 1 Security and LFS 30P Paper-Fire Protection
The safe’s EN 1143-1 Grade 1 certification relates to burglary resistance, while its separate EN 15659 LFS 30P certification provides tested fire protection for paper documents.
The internal shelf allows jewellery boxes, watches, passports, cash, legal papers and other valuables to be organised across two practical storage levels.
Private Electronic-Code Setup
Once the installation was complete, we explained how to programme the electronic lock. We then left the room so the customer could enter their personal code privately.
The customer locked and unlocked the safe without us present, confirming that the code had been programmed successfully and remained known only to them.
Battery Guidance and Customer Handover
We also demonstrated the battery-replacement procedure and explained the low-battery warning so the customer would know when the battery required attention.
After the customer had successfully tested their private code, we removed the tools and packaging and cleaned the wardrobe and surrounding work area.
Before leaving, we confirmed that the customer was comfortable operating the safe and understood the code and battery procedures. The customer was very pleased with the completed installation.

About Whetstone, North London
Whetstone is a North London district within the London Borough of Barnet and the N20 postcode area. It developed beside historic routes running north from London.
The origin of the name Whetstone is uncertain. It may relate to the area’s position west of East Barnet or to the stone outside the former Griffin public house, possibly the base of a medieval cross.
The popular story that soldiers sharpened their swords there before the Battle of Barnet is unlikely to be true because the Whetstone name predates the battle.
The settlement expanded around the road junction and developed services for travellers. By the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, inns, toll-road traffic and stagecoaches played an important part in the local economy.
Whetstone remains an important North London service area for London & Home Counties Safes. We supply and professionally install home safes, fire safes and higher-security Eurograde safes throughout Whetstone, Totteridge, North Finchley, Friern Barnet and surrounding N20 districts.
