Burton Eurovault Aver LFS Grade 1 Size 1 Keylocking Safe Installed in Notting Hill, West London
(case study 01336)
Why the Burton Eurovault Aver Grade 1 Size 1 Was Recommended
London & Home Counties Safes recently supplied and professionally installed a Burton Eurovault Aver LFS Grade 1 Size 1 Keylocking Safe for a customer in Notting Hill, West London W11, within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
The customer required a compact Eurograde 1 safe that could be installed at an accessible height inside a walk-in wardrobe. They preferred a key-operated model and wanted to avoid having to bend down whenever they accessed the safe.
The Eurovault Aver is independently tested and certified to EN 1143-1 Grade 1 and is normally assigned a recommended insurance rating of £10,000 for cash or £100,000 for valuables.
It is also certified to EN 15659 LFS 30P, providing up to 30 minutes’ fire protection for paper documents. Customers should confirm the required grade, monetary rating and installation conditions with their own insurer before purchasing.
The Size 1 measures 340mm high, 500mm wide and 345mm deep externally. Its internal dimensions are 262mm high, 424mm wide and 216mm deep, providing 24 litres of storage capacity. The safe weighs 93kg and includes one internal shelf.
Safe Installed at an Accessible Height
The safe was installed on the shelf above the chest of drawers inside the walk-in wardrobe. The chest of drawers is positioned just out of view in the photographs.
Installing the safe at this elevated height meant that the customer could operate the key lock and access the contents without repeatedly bending down.
Expanding Anchors into the Brick Wall
The safe was bolted to the brick wall at the back of the cupboard using expanding anchors installed through the wardrobe panel and into the masonry behind it.
The brick wall provided the structural fixing substrate, while the wardrobe panel was passed through to reach the masonry.
The expanding masonry anchors provided a substantial structural fixing and helped resist the safe being pulled or levered away from the wall. Customers should confirm any specific installation requirements with their own insurer.
Grade 1 Security and LFS 30P Paper-Fire Protection
The safe’s EN 1143-1 Grade 1 certification relates to burglary resistance, while its separate EN 15659 LFS 30P certification provides tested fire protection for paper documents.
The internal shelf allows jewellery boxes, watches, passports, cash, legal papers and other valuables to be organised across two practical storage levels.
High-Security Key Lock and Two Supplied Keys
The safe is secured by a high-security eight-lever, double-bitted key lock. Two keys were supplied to the customer during the handover.
The spare key should be stored securely away from the safe rather than inside it.
Installation Certificate and Customer Handover
Once the safe had been positioned and secured, two keys were issued to the customer. We removed the tools and packaging and cleaned the wardrobe and surrounding work area.
We also provided an installation certificate recording the exact safe supplied and the method used to secure it. This gave the customer clear installation documentation to retain for their insurer.
The customer was very pleased with the completed installation.

About Notting Hill, West London
Notting Hill is a West London district within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and the W11 postcode area. Much of the surrounding Ladbroke estate was developed during the nineteenth century and is characterised by Victorian and Edwardian residential architecture.
Portobello Road has supported market trading for generations and remains closely associated with antiques, food, clothing and independent traders.
Notting Hill also has an important association with London’s Caribbean communities. The annual Notting Hill Carnival developed from community responses to racism and discrimination experienced by the Windrush generation and remains a major cultural event in the area.
Notting Hill is an important West London service area for London & Home Counties Safes. We supply and professionally install home safes, fire safes and higher-security Eurograde safes throughout Notting Hill, Holland Park, Kensington, Bayswater, Ladbroke Grove and surrounding W11 districts.
