Why the Burton Torino S2 Size 3E Was Recommended

London & Home Counties Safes recently supplied and professionally installed a Burton Safes Torino S2 Size 3E Digital Safe for a homeowner in Ealing, West London W5. The customer required a discreet but accessible position for storing jewellery, watches, cash, passports, important documents and other household valuables.

The Torino is independently tested and certified to EN 14450 S2 and is normally assigned a recommended insurance rating of £4,000 for cash or £40,000 for valuables. Customers should confirm the required security level, monetary rating and installation conditions with their own insurer before purchasing.

The Size 3E measures 345mm high, 473mm wide and 355mm deep externally. Its internal dimensions are 330mm high, 460mm wide and 295mm deep, providing 47 litres of storage capacity. The safe weighs 47.5kg and includes one removable shelf. Click any photograph to view a larger version.

Safe Installed Inside a Kitchen Cupboard

The safe was positioned inside an existing kitchen cupboard, providing convenient access while keeping it discreetly concealed behind the cupboard door.

The Size 3E’s low, wide shape made it suitable for the available cabinet space without requiring a separate floor position elsewhere in the home. Sufficient clearance was retained for the safe door, handle and electronic keypad to operate normally.

Four Rear Wall Anchors and Four Wooden-Base Fixings

We used all four pre-drilled rear fixing holes and installed four high-strength anchor bolts through the rear of the safe, through the back of the kitchen cupboard and into the solid wall behind it.

These four rear wall anchors provided the principal structural fixings and helped resist the safe being pulled or levered away from the wall.

Four additional screws were installed through the safe’s four base fixing holes and into the wooden cupboard base directly beneath the safe. These screws terminated in the wooden cabinet base and did not continue into the flooring below.

The four wooden-base screws provided additional stability within the cupboard, while the four rear wall anchors supplied the main structural restraint. Together, all eight available fixing points were used.

Removable Red Shelf and Electronic Lock

The safe includes one removable shelf with a thick red-painted finish that does not scratch easily. The shelf creates two practical storage levels for jewellery boxes, watches, passports, cash and important documents.

Digital Lock Setup and Customer Handover

Once the safe had been levelled and securely fixed, we demonstrated the electronic keypad and helped the customer programme their personal access code. We also showed them the normal locking and unlocking procedure.

The customer was shown how to use the emergency override keys and the external battery-power point if the internal batteries become depleted. Override keys should be stored securely away from the safe rather than inside it.

The completed installation provided the homeowner with an EN 14450 S2 security safe, discreetly positioned within the kitchen cupboard and professionally secured using four structural wall anchors and four additional wooden-base screws.
