Chubbsafes Grade II Digital Safe installed in West Hampstead

A Compact Grade II Safe for an Eaves Cupboard
Our customer in West Hampstead wanted a high-security digital safe for cash, jewellery and other valuables, but the available space was tucked away inside an eaves cupboard. After looking at the position, we recommended the Chubbsafes Grade II Digital Safe, one of the most compact Eurograde 2 safes in the Chubbsafes range.
Despite its compact dimensions, this Euro Grade II safe is independently tested and certified by ECB-S to EN 1143-1 Grade II and carries recommended insurance ratings of £17,500 for cash and £175,000 for jewellery. At 73kg, it is also a substantial little safe — compact certainly does not mean lightweight in this case.
Finding the Brick Wall Behind the Cupboard
The eaves cupboard gave the customer a discreet position while still allowing sensible access to the keypad and door. More importantly for us, there was solid brickwork directly behind the proposed position, giving us the structural fixing point we needed.
Before fixing the safe, our installer lined the safe up so that its rear fixing point could be marked on the wall accurately.
Once the position had been marked, the safe was moved away from the installation area and the brickwork was drilled ready to accept the anchor.
One Heavy-Duty Rear Anchor into Brickwork
After being repositioned and aligned the safe was then secured through its rear fixing point and directly into the brick wall behind using one heavy-duty expanding anchor bolt.
That gave the EuroGrade II safe a direct structural fixing while allowing the whole installation to remain neatly contained within the eaves cupboard. The Chubbsafes Grade II model is designed for either rear or base anchoring, so a single correctly installed structural fixing is exactly how this type of safe is intended to be secured.
Once installed, the safe sat neatly within the available space with ample room to move around and access the safe.
Digital Lock Demonstration and Handover
The Chubbsafes Grade II Digital Safe provides 14 litres of internal storage and includes one adjustable shelf, making good use of its relatively compact footprint. It is fitted with an EN 1300-certified Class B electronic lock and has soft removable mats on the shelf and base.
After the safe was installed, our installer showed the customer how to operate and programme the digital keypad so they were comfortable using it straight away.
The customer was then given their certificate of installation before our installer left. The finished result was a high-security Grade II safe tucked discreetly into an eaves storage space, while still having space.

About West Hampstead, North West London NW6
West Hampstead lies in the London Borough of Camden and developed substantially during the nineteenth century as London expanded north-westwards. Much of the area grew from the older settlement around West End Green, where the historic village character can still be seen today.
The arrival of the railways played a major part in West Hampstead's growth. The area now has an unusual concentration of rail connections, with London Underground, London Overground and Thameslink stations all close together, making it one of North West London's best-connected neighbourhoods.
West End Green remains an important local focal point and forms part of the West End Green Conservation Area. Around it are Victorian and Edwardian streets, independent shops, cafés and restaurants that contribute to the area's distinctive neighbourhood character.
West Hampstead sits close to Kilburn, Hampstead, Swiss Cottage and Finchley Road, while Hampstead Heath is within easy reach to the north-east. The wider NW6 district includes a mixture of established residential streets, busy high roads and quieter pockets of nineteenth-century development.
Today West Hampstead combines its Victorian suburban history with strong transport links and a lively local centre, while still retaining traces of the older West End settlement from which the modern district developed.
