A Fire and Security Rated Safe for an Under-Stair Cupboard
For this installation in St Albans, Hertfordshire, the customer required a large size safe that they wanted installed in a hidden location under the stairs, we recommended the Chubbsafes HomeSafe S2 30P-90 Digital Safe due to it's large size and rear fixing holes.
This is an EN 14450 S2 certified safe with recommended insurance ratings of £4,000 for cash and £40,000 for valuables, together with 30 minutes of certified fire protection for documents.
The under-stairs cupboard had a solid brick wall which proved ideal for fixing the safe to the fabric of the building. Care was taken to install the safe away from the pipes in the corner of the cupboard, which is why only rear fixing was used to avoid any underfloor pipes. Our installer slightly trimmed the skirting board behind the safe so that it could sit closer to the wall.
Two Rear Fixings Into the Brick Wall
With the skirting trimmed and the safe positioned correctly, the rear fixing points were marked through to the solid brick wall behind the cupboard.
The safe was then moved clear while the fixing holes were drilled into the brickwork. After the drilling dust had been cleaned away, the safe was returned to its final position.
Two expanding anchor bolts were then fitted through the rear of the safe and tightened securely into the brick wall, giving the safe a direct structural fixing to the fabric of the building.
Finished, Demonstrated and Ready to Use
Once the two expanding anchor bolts had been fully tightened, our installer cleaned any remaining drilling dust and debris. The customer was shown how to programme and operate the digital lock and was given the opportunity to try it themselves.
Before leaving, our installer made sure the customer was comfortable using the safe and gave them their certificate of installation.
