A Large Eurograde 1 Safe for a Lounge Cupboard
For this installation in Welwyn, Hertfordshire, the customer required a large Eurograde 1 safe that could be fitted in a discreet location that still gave easy access. We recommended the Securikey Euro Grade 1 - 1180N Digital Safe due to it's size and large storage capacity.
This is a substantial Euro Grade 1 safe weighing 225kg, with 178 litres of internal storage and two shelves. It carries recommended insurance ratings of £10,000 for cash and £100,000 for valuables.
The cupboard proved a good location for a safe of this size, while the concrete floor underneath gave our installer a particularly solid structural surface for the base fixing.
Using the Concrete Floor as the Structural Fixing Point
Once the safe had been moved into the lounge cupboard and its final position established, our installer marked the base fixing point onto the concrete floor beneath.
The safe was then moved safely out of the way to allow the concrete to be drilled to the correct depth and the fixing area cleaned before the safe was returned to position for bolt down.
Concrete is an excellent substrate for this type of installation because the expanding anchor can engage directly with the structural floor rather than relying on furniture, floor coverings or lightweight materials.
Heavy-Duty Expanding Anchor Bolt Through the Base
With the safe correctly aligned, one heavy-duty expanding anchor bolt was installed through the base fixing point and tightened securely into the concrete floor below.
For this installation the single base fixing provided the structural anchoring required, with the 225kg safe sitting directly above a strong concrete substrate.
Once tightened, the anchor held the safe securely in its final position while allowing it to remain neatly contained within the lounge cupboard.
Finished, Cleaned and Demonstrated
After the fixing work was complete, our installer made sure the area was cleaned and any drilling dust or installation debris was removed.
Finally, the customer was shown how to operate the six-digit electronic keypad and use the safe correctly. Before leaving, our installer made sure the customer was comfortable with its operation and gave them their certificate of installation.

Welwyn is a historic village in central Hertfordshire, distinct from the later Welwyn Garden City to the south-east. The village lies in the valley of the River Mimram and has retained a compact historic centre surrounded by countryside.
