Euro Grade 1 Digital Safe installed in Margate
(case study 03074)
A Compact Eurograde Safe for an Upstairs Bedroom
Our customer in Margate wanted an insurance-rated digital safe for cash, jewellery and other valuables, with the first-floor back bedroom chosen as the preferred location. For an upstairs installation, size and weight matter just as much as security, so we recommended the Securikey Euro Grade 1 - 1015N Digital Safe.
This compact Euro Grade One safe is independently certified to EN 1143-1 Security Grade 1 and carries recommended insurance ratings of £10,000 for cash and £100,000 for valuables. It weighs 55kg and provides 17 litres of internal storage, which makes it particularly useful where a proper Eurograde safe is required upstairs without moving something the size of a small refrigerator around the house.
Rear Fixing Directly into the Brick Wall
The back bedroom gave us a solid brick wall behind the chosen position, providing the main structural fixing point for the Grade 1 safe.
Once the safe had been positioned and the rear fixing point marked, our installer (after moving the safe away from the work area) drilled the brickwork to the correct depth and prepared it for the anchor. The safe was then placed back into position and secured through the rear using one heavy-duty expanding anchor bolt.
That gave the Eurograde 1 safe a direct structural fixing into the wall (the fabric of the building).
An Additional Base Fixing into the Floorboard
Although the rear anchor provided the main structural fixing, we were also able to make use of the base fixing position. One coach bolt was fitted through the bottom of the safe and into the floorboard below.
Using both fixing directions gave the EuroGrade I safe a secure and tidy finished installation, with the rear anchored to brickwork and the base fixed to the timber floor.
The Customer Sets Their Own Digital Code
The Securikey 1015N is fitted with a digital keypad using a six-digit PIN and includes one adjustable and removable shelf, allowing the 17-litre interior to be arranged to suit the customer's contents.
After the safe was installed, our installer showed the customer how to operate and programme the digital keypad. The customer then set their own personal code themselves, so it was known only to them from the outset.
The customer was then given their certificate of installation before our installer left. The finished result was a compact Eurograde One safe securely installed in the first-floor back bedroom and ready for everyday use.

About Margate, Kent CT9
Margate is a historic seaside town on the Isle of Thanet in north-east Kent. Its development as a resort accelerated during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries as sea bathing became fashionable and improved transport made the Kent coast increasingly accessible to visitors from London.
The town has a long association with the artist J. M. W. Turner, who frequently visited Margate and was inspired by the distinctive light over the Thames Estuary and North Sea. Turner Contemporary, overlooking the seafront, reflects that artistic connection and has become one of the town's best-known modern landmarks.
Margate's Old Town contains a mixture of historic streets, independent shops, galleries and restored buildings, while the seafront includes the Main Sands, harbour arm and Dreamland, the amusement park whose history stretches back more than a century.
The wider CT9 area includes Cliftonville, Garlinge and Palm Bay, together with residential neighbourhoods extending inland from the coast. Nearby Broadstairs and Ramsgate form the other principal towns of Thanet.
Margate railway station provides direct services towards London and other Kent destinations, while road connections via the A28 and A299 link the town with Canterbury, the wider Thanet area and the M2 corridor.
