A Compact S2 Safe for a Landing Cupboard
Our customer in Islington wanted a compact digital safe for jewellery, cash and other household valuables, but they also wanted it positioned somewhere discreet and convenient rather than left in open view.
After discussing the available locations, we recommended the Burton Safes Torino S2 Size 1E Digital Safe and the landing cupboard of their property as the best installation location. The safe is independently certified to EN14450 S2 and carries recommended insurance ratings of £4,000 for cash and £40,000 for valuables.
Two Structural Fixings into the Brick Wall
The rear of the landing cupboard had a brick wall, providing a good structural surface for the main fixing.
The Torino Size 1E has two pre-drilled rear fixing holes, and both were used for this installation. After marking all the fixing points, our installer moved the safe away from the work area and drilled through the rear of the cupboard, into the brickwork. After cleaning away the drill dust the safe was then repositioned and aligned.
Two expanding anchor bolts were fitted through the rear of the safe and directly to the brickwork, when tightened they gripped and expanded within the drill holes.
Four Additional Joinery Fixings into the Wooden Base
The cupboard base had a lino covering designed to look like floor tiles. Beneath that surface, however, was a timber base rather than a tiled concrete floor.
All four pre-drilled base fixing holes in the safe were therefore used as additional joinery fixing points, with four coach bolts screwed securely through the safe base and into the wood underneath the lino.
These four furniture fixings complemented the two expanding wall anchors and helped keep the 25kg safe stable and firmly positioned within the landing cupboard.
Finished, Cleaned and Ready to Use
The Burton Safes Torino S2 Size 1E provides 16 litres of internal storage and is supplied with one removable shelf. Its external dimensions of approximately 220mm high, 353mm wide and 300mm deep make it particularly useful where cupboard space is limited.
Once all six fixing points had been completed, our installer cleaned the cupboard and surrounding area.
The customer was then shown how to programme and operate the digital keypad, together with how to use the emergency override keys if they were ever required. Before leaving, our installer made sure they were comfortable using the safe and gave them their certificate of installation.
