Grade 1 Safe Installed in a Hall Cupboard

London & Home Counties Safes supplied and professionally installed a KeySecure VICTOR Grade 1 (Size 1E) Digital Safe in the Old Street area of Central London EC1Y.

The safe was fitted inside an existing hall cupboard, providing a discreet and convenient location while keeping the electronic keypad readily accessible.

The KeySecure VICTOR is independently tested and ECB-S certified to EN 1143-1 Grade 1, with a recommended insurance rating of £10,000 for cash or £100,000 for valuables.

Compact 18-Litre Internal Capacity

The safe measures 400mm high, 400mm wide and 270mm deep externally and weighs 39kg.

Its internal dimensions are 350mm high, 341mm wide and 157mm deep, providing approximately 18 litres of storage.

One adjustable shelf divides the interior into two useful levels and can be repositioned or removed when taller items need to be stored.

Rear Anchor and Supporting Floor Screws

A section of the skirting board behind the safe was trimmed so the cabinet could sit closer to the wall. An approved expanding anchor bolt was then installed through the rear of the safe and into the wall behind the hall cupboard.

This rear anchor provided the principal structural fixing, helping to resist the safe being pulled or tilted away from the wall.

The safe was also screwed through its base into the wooden floor, providing additional support and reducing movement at floor level without presenting the wood screws as the main structural anchor.

Electronic Lock and Four-Way Boltwork

The KeySecure VICTOR Grade 1 (Size 1E) is fitted with a VdS Class 2 Wittkopp Primor electronic lock for convenient keyless access.

Four-way locking protects the door, including an overlapping profile along the hinge side, and the door can open through approximately 180 degrees where the cupboard space permits.

Once the installation was complete, our installer checked the safe’s stability, door movement and keypad operation, cleared away all tools and installation debris, and then showed the customer how to program and use the digital keypad.

About Old Street and Central London EC1Y

Old Street is a well-known Central London district centred around the junction of Old Street and City Road. The area sits between Shoreditch, Clerkenwell, Finsbury and Moorgate, placing homes and businesses within easy reach of the City of London and several established residential and commercial neighbourhoods.

The Old Street area is widely associated with London’s technology, digital and creative business community. Modern offices and shared workspaces sit alongside converted warehouses, traditional commercial buildings, apartment developments, council estates and long-established residential streets, creating a varied urban environment with different safe-delivery and installation requirements.

Old Street station is served by the Northern line and is supported by numerous local bus routes. Nearby transport connections at Moorgate, Liverpool Street, Barbican, Angel and Shoreditch provide access across Central London and beyond, making the area a convenient base for residents, offices and professional organisations.

The wider EC1 district includes parts of Finsbury, Clerkenwell and the northern edge of the City. The area contains historic buildings, post-war estates, modern apartment blocks, mixed-use developments and commercial premises, with property layouts ranging from compact flats to larger offices and converted industrial buildings.

Safe installations around Old Street can require careful planning because access may involve communal entrances, lifts, staircases, controlled loading areas, narrow corridors and fitted cupboards. Before delivery, it is important to consider the safe’s weight and dimensions, the route into the property, the final door clearance and the construction available for secure anchoring.

Hall cupboards can provide a discreet and practical position for a home safe when there is sufficient depth, ventilation and access. The supporting wall and floor must also be assessed so that the most appropriate professional fixing method can be selected without relying solely on lightweight furniture panels or floorboards.

London & Home Counties Safes supplies and professionally installs home safes, digital safes, jewellery safes and certified Eurograde safes throughout Old Street, Shoreditch, Clerkenwell, Finsbury, Moorgate and surrounding Central London areas. Each installation can be planned around access, available space, safe weight, door movement and suitable structural fixing points.
