Finding a Compact Eurograde 2 Safe for a Bedroom Wardrobe

Our customer in Hampstead Garden Suburb, North London needed a certified Eurograde 2 digital safe offering a recommended £17,500 cash and £175,000 valuables rating, but wanted the safe concealed inside an existing bedroom wardrobe.

After discussing the available wardrobe space, the required level of protection and the customer’s preference for electronic access, we recommended the KeySecure VICTOR Grade 2 (Size 1E) Digital Safe. Its relatively compact footprint made it suitable for the proposed wardrobe position while still providing 36 litres of secure internal storage.

Once the safe had been chosen and the final wardrobe position had been agreed, we arranged delivery and professional installation at the customer’s property in Hampstead Garden Suburb.

109kg of Eurograde 2 Protection

The KeySecure VICTOR Grade 2 (Size 1E) measures 450mm high, 450mm wide and 465mm deep externally and weighs 109kg.

Internally, the safe measures 350mm high, 340mm wide and 305mm deep, providing approximately 36 litres of storage space.

One adjustable shelf allows the interior to be arranged around jewellery boxes, documents and other valuables, while the electronic lock provides convenient keyless access within the bedroom wardrobe.

Rear-Anchored Through the Wardrobe into Brickwork

The safe was positioned inside the bedroom wardrobe with suitable clearance for the safe door and digital keypad.

Our installer drilled into the wardrobe panel to reach the brick wall behind.

An expanding anchor bolt was then installed into the brickwork, providing the principal structural fixing and securely anchoring the safe to the fabric of the building.

Additional Base Fixing and Digital Handover

In addition to the rear structural anchor, a heavy-duty screw was installed through the base of the safe and into the wooden wardrobe base beneath it, providing an additional supporting furniture fixing.

The VICTOR Eurograde 2 safe uses a VdS Class 2 Wittkopp Primor electronic lock together with four-way locking and hinge-side protection, and its door can open through 180 degrees where the surrounding wardrobe provides sufficient clearance.

After completing the installation, our installer cleared away the drilling dust, tools and installation debris before showing the customer how to programme and operate the digital keypad. Our installer also gave the customer a certificate of installation.

About Hampstead Garden Suburb and North London N2

Hampstead Garden Suburb is a distinctive residential area in North London, known for its planned character, mature greenery and mixture of houses, flats and carefully designed residential streets. Much of the area forms part of the Hampstead Garden Suburb Conservation Area.

The suburb contains a variety of property types and internal layouts, so access routes and suitable safe installation positions can differ considerably from one home to another. Bedroom wardrobes can provide a particularly discreet location where there is sufficient depth, operating clearance and access to a suitable structural fixing surface.

Many homes in the area contain fitted joinery, timber floors and traditional masonry construction. When planning a wardrobe safe installation, it is therefore important to establish what lies behind and beneath the furniture rather than relying on the wardrobe itself as the principal means of securing an insurance-rated safe.

East Finchley Underground station, which is served by the Northern line, is one of the stations serving the wider N2 area and provides connections towards central London.

Safe deliveries in Hampstead Garden Suburb can involve stairs, narrow hallways, fitted bedroom furniture and limited manoeuvring space. Confirming the complete delivery route and final wardrobe dimensions before installation helps reduce the risk of access or clearance problems, particularly with heavier Eurograde safes.

A wardrobe installation also requires enough clearance for the safe door, handle and digital keypad to operate comfortably. The fixing position should allow the installer to reach suitable masonry or another structural part of the building wherever possible.

Where the safe is rear-anchored through a wardrobe panel into brickwork, the structural anchor secures the safe to the building itself. An additional fixing through the base into the wardrobe or timber beneath can provide further support but does not replace the principal structural anchor.

London & Home Counties Safes supplies and professionally installs Eurograde 1, Eurograde 2, Eurograde 3 and other certified safes throughout Hampstead Garden Suburb, N2 and North London. Each installation can be planned around the safe’s dimensions and weight, the property access route and the available structural fixing surfaces.
