Why the Richmond 30K Size 2 Was Recommended
London & Home Counties Safes supplied and professionally installed a Richmond 30K Size 2 Digital Safe for a customer in Limehouse, East London E14.
The customer required a compact certified safe that could be positioned discreetly at the bottom of a wardrobe with a sliding door.
The Richmond 30K is independently attack-tested and certified to EN 14450 S2. It is normally assigned a recommended insurance rating of £3,000 for cash or £30,000 for valuables.
Customers should confirm the required monetary rating, security certification and installation conditions with their own insurer before purchasing.
The Size 2 measures 300mm high, 445mm wide and 400mm deep externally, with approximately 12mm additional projection for the keypad. Its internal dimensions are 220mm high, 365mm wide and 295mm deep, providing 23 litres of storage capacity.
The safe weighs 24kg and includes one removable shelf for organising jewellery boxes, watches, cash, passports and important documents.
Installed at the Base of a Sliding-Door Wardrobe
The safe was positioned at the base of a wardrobe fitted with a sliding door. This kept the safe discreetly out of immediate view while allowing the wardrobe door to operate normally.
The low-level position also provided direct access to the concrete floor beneath the wardrobe for the structural fixing.
Expanding Base Anchors into the Concrete Floor
The safe was secured through its base fixing points and into the concrete floor using expanding anchors.
The concrete provided the structural fixing substrate and helped resist the safe being lifted or moved from its installed position.
No rear-wall fixing was used for this installation.
Battery-Powered Electronic Keypad
The electronic keypad is powered by an internal 9V battery and does not require a connection to the property’s mains electricity.
External Emergency Battery Contacts
If the internal battery becomes depleted, a 9V battery can be held against the external emergency power contacts on the front of the safe.
This temporarily powers the keypad so the customer can enter their personal code, open the safe and replace the internal battery.
The electronic lock uses non-volatile memory, meaning the stored access code is retained if the battery becomes depleted or is replaced.
Personal Code and Battery Handover
After completing the installation, we demonstrated how to operate the electronic keypad and showed the customer how to set their own personal access code.
We also explained how to use the external battery contacts and how to replace the internal 9V battery when required.
Once the installation and customer handover had been completed, the wardrobe and surrounding work area were cleaned and thoroughly vacuumed.
