Richmond 30K Size 3 Keylocking Safe Installed in Woodstock, Oxfordshire

(case study 01544)

Why the Richmond 30K Size 3 Was Recommended

London & Home Counties Safes supplied and professionally installed a Richmond 30K Size 3 Keylocking Safe for a customer in Woodstock, Oxfordshire OX20.

The customer preferred the simplicity of a traditional key-operated safe rather than an electronic keypad. They required a certified home safe for family heirlooms, important documents and other household valuables.

The Richmond 30K is independently attack-tested and certified to EN 14450 S2. It is normally assigned a recommended insurance rating of £3,000 for cash or £30,000 for valuables.

Customers should confirm the required monetary rating, certification and installation conditions with their own insurer before purchasing.

The Size 3 measures 450mm high, 445mm wide and 400mm deep externally. Its internal dimensions are 370mm high, 365mm wide and 295mm deep, providing 39 litres of storage capacity.

The safe weighs 31kg and includes one removable shelf, allowing the interior to be arranged around jewellery boxes, passports, legal documents and other valuables. Two keys are supplied with the key-operated lock.

Positioned Near the Room Entrance

The customer wanted the safe to be easily accessible, so it was positioned against the wall near the entrance to the room.

The safe stood on the existing fitted carpet, allowing it to remain part of the room without requiring a separate furniture enclosure.

Skirting Board Trimmed for a Flush Installation

The existing skirting board prevented the rear of the safe from sitting directly against the wall. With the customer’s agreement, we trimmed a small section of skirting board for an additional charge.

This allowed the safe to sit flush against the wall and provided direct access to the solid brickwork for the rear fixing.

One Expanding Rear Anchor into Solid Brickwork

The principal structural fixing was one high-strength expanding anchor installed through the rear fixing hole of the safe and into the solid brick wall behind it.

Additional Base Fixing into the Floorboards

The base of the safe was also screwed into the floorboards below, providing additional support and stability alongside the principal rear-wall anchor.

The combination of the expanding rear anchor and the additional base fixing helped resist the safe being pulled forward, lifted or moved from its installed position.

Traditional Key-Operated Access

The customer preferred a traditional key-operated lock because it avoided the need to remember a PIN or maintain an electronic keypad battery.

The high-security double-bitted key lock provides straightforward access using one of the two supplied keys.

Key-Lock Demonstration and Customer Handover

Once the installation was complete, we tested the key-operated lock and demonstrated its correct operation to the customer.

We also provided guidance about secure key management. The spare key should be stored in a secure location away from the safe rather than inside it or beside it.

The tools and installation debris were removed, and the surrounding work area was cleaned before the handover was completed.

About Woodstock, Oxfordshire

Woodstock is a market town and civil parish in West Oxfordshire, approximately eight miles north-west of Oxford. Blenheim Palace and its historic park stand immediately beside the town.

Woodstock developed in connection with the royal hunting lodge and park. The town’s name reflects its woodland setting, and Woodstock received a royal charter from Henry VI in 1453.

The town’s association with the Marlborough family began after Woodstock Park was granted to John Churchill, the first Duke of Marlborough, in 1705. The later development of Blenheim Palace had a major influence on the town’s economy and architecture.
