Why the Highgate Top Loading Safe Was Recommended

The customer required a compact security safe that could be installed in a low-level cupboard space while remaining convenient to open and use.
A top-loading model was particularly suitable because access is provided through the lid rather than through a conventional front-opening safe door. This made effective use of the available recessed cupboard space.

Installed in a Recessed Cupboard Area
The safe was installed in a recessed area at the bottom of the cupboard, allowing it to sit low down and largely out of sight.
Its top-opening configuration meant that the customer could access the contents from above without requiring clearance for a conventional safe door to swing outwards.
One High-Strength Anchor into the Concrete Floor
One high-strength anchor bolt was installed through the base of the safe and into the concrete floor beneath it.
The concrete floor provided the structural fixing substrate, while the base anchor helped resist the safe being lifted or moved from its installed position.
This provided a substantial structural fixing for the compact top-loading safe without changing the cupboard’s practical use.
Compact Top-Opening Design
The safe has a 2mm electrically welded solid-steel body and a 4mm-thick top-opening lid secured by 20mm hardened-steel locking bolts.
Once the correct code is entered, the electronic locking mechanism releases the lid. The gas-assisted opening action helps the top lift smoothly, while the illuminated keypad and automatic internal light are particularly useful inside a darker cupboard.
A soft foam insert helps protect watches, passports, jewellery and other smaller valuables from scratches while stored inside the safe.
Personal Code and Emergency-Key Handover
Once the base fixing had been completed, we tested the electronic locking mechanism and confirmed that the lid opened and closed correctly.
We then demonstrated the available guest-code and master-code functions and showed the customer how to set and change a secure four-to-six-digit personal access code.
We also demonstrated the emergency override key, which provides an alternative method of opening the safe if the batteries become depleted or the personal code is unavailable. The override key should be stored securely away from the safe rather than inside it.
After the customer was comfortable operating the safe, we removed the tools and packaging and cleaned the cupboard and surrounding work area, leaving the installation ready for immediate use.

About Pulborough, West Sussex
Pulborough is a large village in the Horsham district of West Sussex and the RH20 postcode area. It stands beside the River Arun, close to where the River Rother joins it at Pallingham, and lies near the northern edge of the South Downs.
