KeySecure VICTOR Grade 1 (Size 1E) Digital Safe Installed in South West London SW19
(case study 03429)
Finding a Compact Eurograde 1 Safe for an Eaves Cupboard
Our customer in Colliers Wood, South West London needed a certified Eurograde 1 digital safe with a recommended £10,000 cash and £100,000 valuables rating, but wanted it installed discreetly inside an existing eaves cupboard.
After discussing the available cupboard space, the required level of protection and the customer’s preference for a safe with a digital keypad, we recommended the KeySecure VICTOR Grade 1 (Size 1E) Digital Safe. Its compact dimensions made it well suited to the eaves cupboard while still providing practical storage for important documents and smaller valuables.
Once the installation position inside the cupboard had been agreed, we arranged delivery and professional installation at the customer’s property in Colliers Wood.
Compact External Size with 18 Litres of Storage
The KeySecure VICTOR Grade 1 (Size 1E) measures 400mm high, 400mm wide and 270mm deep externally and weighs 39kg.
Internally, the safe measures 350mm high, 341mm wide and 157mm deep, providing approximately 18 litres of storage space.
One adjustable shelf allows the interior to be arranged around jewellery, passports, paperwork and other valuables, while the digital lock provides convenient keyless operation within the cupboard space.
Rear-Anchored to the Wall Inside the Cupboard
The safe was positioned inside the eaves cupboard with plenty of space for easy access. The safe was also positioned to the left of the eaves cupboard so that the safe door could open almost fully without making contact with the side wall.
To keep the rear of the safe close to the back wall to avoid a leverage point, the skirting board was trimmed and removed. The safe was then positioned close to the wall, where the skirting board was removed as you can see in the last photo.
Our installer then fitted an expanding anchor bolt through the rear fixing hole of the safe and into the brick wall. This rear fixing provided the principal structural anchor, securing the Eurograde safe to the fabric of the building rather than relying solely on the cupboard structure.
Additional Base Fixing and Digital Handover
In addition to the rear wall anchor bolt, a heavy duty screw was installed through the base of the safe and into the wooden floorboards of the cupboard beneath the carpet, providing an extra supporting fixing at floor level.
The VICTOR Eurograde 1 safe uses a VdS Class 2 Wittkopp Primor electronic lock together with four-way locking and hinge-side protection, and its door can open sufficiently where the surrounding cupboard allows clearance.
After completing the installation, our installer cleared away all tools and debris before showing the customer how to programme and operate the digital keypad. Our installer also gave the customer a certificate of installation which they could present to their insurance company.

About Colliers Wood and South West London SW19
Colliers Wood is a well-established residential area in South West London, within the London Borough of Merton. The SW19 postcode covers a mixture of houses, flats and converted properties, so access routes and suitable safe installation positions can vary from one property to another.
The area has a combination of period housing, newer developments and loft or eaves spaces that are often used for storage. An eaves cupboard can provide a discreet position for a safe, provided there is enough room for the cabinet itself, sufficient operating clearance for the door and keypad, and access to a suitable structural fixing surface.
Colliers Wood Underground station is served by the Northern line, providing connections towards central London and other parts of South West London. The area is also connected by local bus routes and nearby main roads.
Safe deliveries in Colliers Wood can involve staircases, narrow hallways, loft access points, fitted cupboards and restricted turning space. Confirming the complete delivery route and the final cupboard dimensions in advance helps reduce the risk of access or clearance problems.
When a safe is installed inside an eaves cupboard, the surrounding joinery may help to conceal it, but the principal fixing should still secure the safe to a structural wall or another suitable part of the building. Additional screws through the base into floorboards can provide further support where appropriate.
It is also important to check that the cupboard floor, any surrounding timber and the fixing surfaces are suitable for the safe’s weight and the intended method of installation. Even a compact Eurograde safe should be planned around both the access route and the final structural fixing point.
London & Home Counties Safes supplies and professionally installs Eurograde 1, Eurograde 2, Eurograde 3 and other certified safes throughout Colliers Wood, SW19 and South West London. Each installation can be planned around the safe’s dimensions and weight, the property access route and the available structural fixing surfaces.
