KeySecure VICTOR Grade 1 (Size 2E) Digital Safe Installed on a first floor room corner in Holloway, Islington, London N7
(case study 03247)
Finding a Compact Eurograde 1 Safe for a First-Floor Room
Our customer in Holloway, Islington needed a certified Eurograde 1 digital safe providing a recommended £10,000 cash and £100,000 valuables rating, with the safe to be installed discreetly in the corner of a first-floor room.
After assessing the available space and the customer’s preference for a digital safe, we recommended the KeySecure VICTOR Grade 1 (Size 2E) Digital Safe. At 400mm high, 420mm wide and 420mm deep, its compact dimensions made it well suited to the proposed corner position while still providing 36 litres of secure internal storage.
Once the installation position had been agreed, we arranged delivery and carried the 55kg safe to the first floor ready for professional installation.
Skirting Board Trimmed for a Neater Installation
A section of skirting board on the right-hand side of the installation position was preventing the safe from sitting close to the wall.
Our installer carefully trimmed the required section of skirting so that the safe could be positioned closer to the wall and neatly into the corner of the room.
With the safe having a closer proximity to the wall, intruders would find it more difficult to remove the safe due to there not being a gap behind the safe for crowbars or other tools.
Rear-Anchored to the Wall with Additional Base Fixing
Our installer first drilled through the brick wall before positioning and installing an expanding anchor bolt through the rear fixing hole and into the wall behind. This provided the principal structural fixing securing the safe to the fabric of the building.
The safe was also screwed down through its base into the wooden floor beneath the carpet, providing an additional supporting fixing at floor level.
After completing the installation, our installer cleared away the drilling dust, tools and installation debris before showing the customer how to programme and operate the digital keypad. Our installer also gave the customer a certificate of installation (which is official proof of the installation).

About Holloway, Islington and London N7
Holloway is an established residential and commercial district in the London Borough of Islington. The N7 area contains a varied mixture of traditional houses, converted properties, purpose-built flats and modern developments, meaning access routes and suitable safe fixing positions can differ considerably from one property to another.
Holloway Road is one of the principal routes through the area and forms an important part of the local shopping and commercial centre around Nag’s Head. Residential streets extend away from the main road, creating a mixture of busier urban locations and quieter residential areas.
Holloway Road Underground station is served by the Piccadilly line, providing connections towards central London and North London. Numerous bus routes also serve Holloway Road and the surrounding N7 area.
Safe installations in Holloway can involve flats and houses with stairs, communal entrances, narrow hallways, fitted furniture and limited parking or loading space. Confirming the complete delivery route and final installation position in advance helps ensure that the correct safe and installation method can be planned.
First-floor installations require particular consideration because the safe must be safely moved through the property before any drilling or fixing work begins. The final position also needs suitable clearance around the door, handle or keypad and access to an appropriate structural fixing surface.
Where a skirting board prevents a freestanding safe from sitting close enough to a wall, a carefully trimmed section can allow the cabinet to be positioned more neatly and can provide better access to the structural wall behind for anchoring.
For insurance-rated safes, the principal fixing should secure the safe to a suitable part of the building rather than relying solely on furniture or floor coverings. Additional base fixings can also be used where appropriate to provide further support.
London & Home Counties Safes supplies and professionally installs Eurograde 1, Eurograde 2, Eurograde 3 and other certified safes throughout Holloway, Islington and London. Each installation can be planned around the safe’s dimensions and weight, the property access route and the available structural fixing surfaces.
