A Discreet Euro Grade 1 Safe for a Bedroom Wardrobe
For this installation in Windsor, Berkshire, the customer wanted an insurance-rated safe that could sit neatly inside an existing bedroom wardrobe rather than being easily visible in the room.
The chosen model was the KeySecure VICTOR Grade 1 (Size 2E) Digital Safe, a certified Eurograde One safe with recommended insurance ratings of £10,000 for cash and £100,000 for valuables.
The wardrobe gave the safe a discreet position while still being easily accessible once the wardrobe doors were opened.
Compact Enough for the Wardrobe, with 36 Litres Inside
The Size 2E measures 400mm high, 420mm wide and 420mm deep externally and weighs 55kg, so it offers a useful amount of secure storage without taking over the whole cupboard.
Inside, there is approximately 36 litres of space and one adjustable shelf, giving the customer flexibility for jewellery boxes, documents and other valuables.
Before fixing began, our installer positioned the safe carefully within the wardrobe and checked the door and keypad clearance so that the safe could be used comfortably once the installation was complete. He then marked the fixing hole positions ready for the installation.
Anchored Through the Rear into the Wall
KeySecure VICTOR safes have two pre-drilled fixing holes, one in the rear and one in the base. On this installation, the rear fixing provided the main structural anchor.
After drilling through the rear wardrobe panel and into the wall, an expanding anchor bolt was fitted through the rear fixing point, through the back of the wardrobe and securely into the wall behind.
This meant the safe itself was anchored to the fabric of the building while remaining neatly contained within the bedroom furniture.
A Second Supporting Fixing Through the Base
The second pre-drilled fixing point in the base of the safe was also used. A supporting joinery fixing was installed through the base fixing hole and into the wooden wardrobe shelf beneath the safe. This means there were to fixing points used to secure the safe, the first being the main anchoring to the fabric of the building (the wall) and the second extra resistance fixing being the wardrobe shelf.
Once all drilling and fixing work was finished, our installer cleaned the area thoroughly, removed the installation debris and showed the customer how to programme and operate the Wittkopp Primor digital keypad. Before leaving, he also gave the customer their certificate of installation.
