Finding a Eurograde 1 Safe for a Bedroom Wardrobe

Our customer in St John’s Wood needed a certified Eurograde 1 digital safe with enough room for valuables and important documents, but wanted the safe concealed inside an existing bedroom wardrobe.

After discussing the available space, the required £10,000 cash and £100,000 valuables rating and the customer’s preference for electronic access, we recommended the KeySecure VICTOR Grade 1 (Size 3E) Digital Safe.

Once the safe and wardrobe position had been agreed, we arranged delivery and carried out a professional installation in the customer’s North-West London property.

Sixty Litres of Organised Storage

The KeySecure VICTOR measures 500mm high, 500mm wide and 420mm deep externally and weighs 71kg.

Its internal dimensions are 450mm high, 441mm wide and 307mm deep, providing approximately 60 litres of secure storage.

One adjustable shelf allows the Eurograde safe to be arranged around smaller valuables, jewellery boxes and documents, or removed when a taller item needs to be accommodated.

Rear-Anchored to the Wall

The safe was positioned at the base of the bedroom wardrobe with suitable clearance for the safe door and digital keypad.

An approved expanding anchor bolt was installed through the rear of the safe, through the wardrobe panel and into the brick wall behind.

The rear anchor means that the safe was fixed to the fabric of the building to be compliant with insurance requirements.

Supporting Base Fixing and Digital Handover

A heavy-duty screw was also installed through the base of the safe and into the wooden wardrobe base, providing an additional supporting furniture fixing at floor level.

The VICTOR Eurograde 1 safe uses a VdS Class 2 Wittkopp Primor electronic lock, together with four-way locking and hinge-side protection.

After the safe was installed, our installer cleared away all tools, dust and installation debris before showing the customer how to programme and use the safe digital keypad. Our installer also gave the customer a certificate of installation.

About St John’s Wood and North-West London NW8

St John’s Wood is an established residential district in North-West London. Although it is close to central London, the area has a distinct neighbourhood character created by tree-lined residential surroundings, local shops, community facilities and a mixture of traditional and modern homes.

The St John’s Wood Conservation Area reflects the architectural and historic importance of the district. Local properties include period houses, converted buildings, mansion blocks and contemporary apartments, each of which can present different delivery routes, wardrobe layouts and structural fixing options for a safe installation.

Two of the area’s best-known landmarks are Lord’s Cricket Ground and Abbey Road Studios. Lord’s is owned by Marylebone Cricket Club, while Abbey Road Studios and its nearby crossing have made St John’s Wood internationally recognised for both sport and music.

St John’s Wood Underground station is served by the Jubilee line, providing convenient connections towards central London and other parts of the capital. Local bus routes also connect the district with neighbouring areas across North-West London.

St John’s Wood Church Ground Garden is among the local green spaces serving the community. Regent’s Park is also nearby, giving residents access to extensive open space while remaining close to central London.

St John’s Wood Library is a busy community library offering reading and study space, children’s services, events, computers and other local facilities. These amenities contribute to the area’s established residential and community identity.

Safe deliveries in St John’s Wood can involve controlled-access apartment buildings, communal entrances, lifts, staircases, narrow hallways and fitted bedroom furniture. Confirming the complete delivery route and the final wardrobe dimensions before installation helps reduce the risk of access or clearance problems.

A bedroom wardrobe can provide a discreet and convenient position for a Eurograde safe, but the selected cabinet still requires suitable door clearance and an appropriate structural wall or floor fixing point. Furniture screws may provide useful additional support but should not be confused with the principal structural anchor.

London & Home Counties Safes supplies and professionally installs Eurograde 1, Eurograde 2, Eurograde 3 and other certified safes throughout St John’s Wood and North-West London. Each installation can be planned around the safe’s dimensions and weight, the property access route and the available structural fixing surfaces.
