A Larger Eurograde 1 Safe for an Under-Stair Cupboard
Our customer in Kilburn wanted a certified Eurograde 1 safe with more internal room than the smaller models in the range, while still keeping it out of sight in an existing under-stair cupboard.
The KeySecure VICTOR Grade 1 (Size 4) Keylocking Safe suited the space well. It provides a recommended insurance rating of £10,000 for cash and £100,000 for valuables, together with 81 litres of internal storage.
The customer preferred a traditional key-operated lock, so this version of the VICTOR was chosen rather than the digital model.
81 Litres of Storage in an 85kg Cabinet
The Size 4 measures 650mm high, 500mm wide and 420mm deep externally and weighs 85kg.
Inside, there is approximately 81 litres of usable storage, with one adjustable shelf that can be repositioned depending on what the customer wants to keep inside.
Before the safe was installed, the safe was positioned carefully within the under-stair cupboard so that the door could open properly and the key lock remained comfortable to use.
Anchored Directly into the Concrete Floor
For this installation, the base fixing point was the most suitable way to secure the safe. KeySecure VICTOR safes have two pre-drilled fixing holes, one in the rear and one in the base, and the base fixing hole was used here.
Our installer first drilled into the concrete floor of the under stairs cupboard, then fixed the safe directly through its base fixing hole and into the concrete floor using an expanding anchor bolt.
Because the safe was being installed into an existing cupboard, no alteration to the surrounding joinery was needed beyond positioning the cabinet correctly before the fixing was completed.
Finished, Checked and Handed Over
The VICTOR Grade 1 Size 4 uses a VdS Class 1 key lock and is supplied with three keys. Its door opens through 180 degrees where the surrounding space allows, making access to the full-width interior straightforward.
Afterwards the work area was then cleaned and all drilling dust and installation debris was removed. Before leaving, our installer showed the customer how to operate the lock, handed over the keys and gave them their certificate of installation.

About Kilburn, Brent and North-West London NW6
Kilburn lies on the south-eastern edge of the London Borough of Brent, with Kilburn High Road forming much of the boundary between Brent and the neighbouring London Borough of Camden. The area has developed around one of London’s historic north-west routes and today forms a busy residential and commercial part of NW6.
The name Kilburn is thought to derive from an old Saxon expression meaning “cattle stream”. The settlement grew where the ancient Watling Street crossed Kilburn Brook, and Kilburn Priory was founded nearby in the 12th century. For centuries the district remained comparatively rural before expanding rapidly during the Victorian period.
Kilburn High Road has long been the main commercial spine of the area. During the 19th century, improved road and rail links helped transform Kilburn from a semi-rural settlement into a densely developed London suburb, with shops, housing and entertainment venues appearing along and around the High Road.
The wider Kilburn area includes several notable examples of Victorian architecture and designated conservation areas. Brent Council designated the Kilburn Conservation Area in 1993, while nearby South Kilburn retains surviving 19th-century villas from the former Kilburn Park Estate.
Queen’s Park lies just to the west of Kilburn. The park developed from the site of the 1879 Royal Agricultural Show and was later named Queen’s Park in honour of Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee. It remains one of the best-known green spaces in this part of North-West London.
Kilburn Underground station is on the Jubilee line, providing direct connections towards central London, the West End, Canary Wharf and Stratford. Kilburn High Road and Brondesbury stations also provide London Overground and National Rail connections in the wider area.
