Eurograde 3 Protection in a Basement Wardrobe
Our customer in Marylebone wanted a high-security safe that could be kept out of sight inside a basement wardrobe. The level of cover required meant moving up to a certified Eurograde 3 model, with a recommended insurance rating of £35,000 for cash and £350,000 for valuables.
For the available space we supplied the KeySecure VICTOR Grade 3 (Size 1E) Digital Safe. Although relatively compact at 450mm high, 450mm wide and 465mm deep, this is a substantial 177kg safe, so the route down to the basement and the final position were both considered before delivery.
Positioned Low and Out of Immediate View
The basement wardrobe gave the customer a discreet place to keep the safe without being noticed or taking up extra space. Once the safe was positioned, there was still comfortable access to the digital keypad and enough clearance for the safe door to be used normally with the wardrobe door open.
Inside, the Size 1E provides 36 litres of storage and has one adjustable shelf. That gives useful flexibility for jewellery, watches, documents and other valuables without making the safe unnecessarily large for the cupboard.
With the safe positioned, our installer marked the base fixing point through the base of the safe and also made all of the measurements so that the safe was in the correct position.
Anchored Directly into the Concrete Floor
KeySecure VICTOR safes have two pre-drilled fixing holes, one in the rear and one in the base. For this installation the concrete floor under the wardrobe provided the most suitable structural fixing point, so the base fixing was used.
Our installer drilled through the wooden wardrobe base, into the concrete and secured the safe using a heavy-duty Thunderbolt fixing bolt. This anchored the 177kg safe directly to the fabric of the building and left the safe sitting neatly within the wardrobe.
Once tightened and checked, the fixing was concealed inside the safe and the installation retained the simple, uncluttered appearance the customer wanted.
Digital Lock, Fire Protection and Customer Handover
The VICTOR Eurograde 3 Size 1E uses a VdS Class 2 Wittkopp Primor electronic lock and also carries a 30-minute fire rating and 4 way locking including overlapping profile on the hinge side.
After the fixing work was finished, our installer cleaned the wardrobe and surrounding basement area, removing the drilling dust, tools and installation debris.
He then showed the customer how to programme and operate the digital keypad, checked that they were comfortable using the safe and gave them their certificate of installation before leaving.

About Marylebone and Central London W1H
Marylebone is one of Central London’s best-known neighbourhoods, sitting between the West End, Regent’s Park and the western side of central London.
