Brattonsound Engineering Closes It's Doors After 44 Years of British Gun Safe Manufacturing

London & Home Counties Safes has today received direct communication from Brattonsound Engineering confirming that the company has closed its doors and ceased trading after more than 44 years of British manufacturing.

The news marks the end of one of the best-known names in the British gun safe and gun cabinet industry.

For more than four decades, Brattonsound manufactured gun safes and security cabinets in Surrey, supplying shotgun cabinets, rifle safes, ammunition safes and larger firearm storage cabinets to customers throughout the UK.

Why has Brattonsound closed?

In its communication to customers, Brattonsound said that the trading environment had become increasingly challenging and that, despite its efforts, the business had reached a point where continuing was no longer viable.

The company described the announcement as extremely difficult, paying tribute to the people who had worked for Brattonsound over many years and thanking customers for their support of the company and British manufacturing.

Brattonsound said:

“After more than 44 years of British manufacturing, Brattonsound Engineering has closed its doors and ceased trading.”

The communication received by London Safes does not give details of any administration, liquidation or other formal insolvency process. We therefore do not think it would be appropriate to speculate about the precise circumstances beyond Brattonsound's own statement that the company has closed and ceased trading.

This is very sad news for the UK safe and security industry. Brattonsound has been a familiar and respected name for more than four decades, and its closure will undoubtedly be felt by customers, dealers and others across the trade. We would like to wish all of the management, employees and their families the very best for the future, and to acknowledge the enormous amount of work and commitment that has gone into building the Brattonsound name over the past 44 years.
