Richmond 30K (Size 3) Keylocking Safe Fitted in Oxfordshire
(case study 01544)
We recently traveled to the historic town of Woodstock, located in Oxfordshire (OX20), to complete a professional installation for a client needing a reliable home security upgrade. After assessing their requirements, we supplied and fitted the Richmond 30K (Size 3) Keylocking Safe. This model is a popular choice for homeowners who prefer the simplicity and "fail-safe" nature of a physical key over electronic components. It is officially EN 14450 S2 rated, making it an insurance-approved safe certified to protect up to £3,000 in cash or £30,000 in valuables, which is perfect for securing family heirlooms and important legal documents.
For this Oxfordshire safe installation, the client wanted the safe to be easily accesible near the entrance to the room. We professionally fitted the unit against the wall near the door to the room on top of the room's fitted carpet. To ensure the installation was as secure as possible and fully compliant with insurance standards, the rear of the safe had to be flush to the wall with no gap in between. In order to do this we had to trim the skirting board slighly (for a small fee) to allow for the safe to be flush against the wall. We performed a heavy-duty bolt-down, using a high-strength expanding anchor, we secured the safe through the back fixing hole of the safe into the solid brick wall and then screwed down the base of the safe into the floorboards below. This dual-anchoring method creates an incredibly robust fix, ensuring the safe cannot be easily moved or tampered with.
Once the installation was finished and the work area was thoroughly tidied, we performed a full handover with the homeowner. We demonstrated the smooth operation of the high-security double-bitted key lock and provided advice on secure key management. It’s always our goal to leave our clients feeling 100% confident in their new security setup. Woodstock is a picturesque market town located in the West Oxfordshire district, situated approximately 8 miles northwest of the city of Oxford. It sits on the eastern edge of the Cotswolds and is primarily defined by the OX20 postcode district. The town is centered along the A44 road, which connects Oxford to Evesham, making it a prominent stop for those traveling through the region. While Woodstock does not have its own railway station, it remains well-connected via regular bus services from Oxford city center, and the nearby stations of Long Hanborough and Oxford Parkway provide frequent rail links to London and the Midlands. The town’s name is derived from the Old English for "a clearing in the woods," and its origins are deeply tied to its status as a royal forest, as recorded in the Domesday Book of 1087. For centuries, Woodstock served as a royal retreat, centered around a hunting lodge that eventually became the grand Woodstock Palace, a favorite residence of medieval kings including Henry I and Henry II. It was here that Henry II famously courted Rosamund Clifford, and where a young Princess Elizabeth was held captive in 1554 by her sister, Queen Mary I. The town's trajectory changed forever in the early 18th century when Queen Anne gifted the royal manor to John Churchill, the 1st Duke of Marlborough, following his victory at the Battle of Blenheim. This led to the demolition of the ruined palace and the construction of Blenheim Palace, which remains the seat of the Marlborough family. Woodstock also has a rich industrial past, once thriving as a center for fine leather glove making. The primary draw for visitors is Blenheim Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. This masterpiece of Baroque architecture is set within over 2,000 acres of parkland and formal gardens designed by Lancelot "Capability" Brown. The town itself is equally captivating, featuring honey-colored stone buildings and historic landmarks such as the 18th-century Woodstock Town Hall and St Mary Magdalene Church, which is noted for its musical clock that plays different tunes throughout the week. Cultural explorers often visit The Oxfordshire Museum and the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum, both located on Park Street, which offer insights into local heritage and military history. The town is also famous for its high-end antique shops, galleries, and historic coaching inns, most notably The Bear Hotel, which has provided hospitality to travelers since the 13th century. Just a short distance away in the village of Bladon, visitors can find the modest grave of Winston Churchill in the churchyard of St Martin's Church.
