A Compact Eurograde 1 Safe for an Under-Stair Cupboard
Our customer in Bromley wanted a compact insurance-rated digital safe for household valuables, but wasn't sure where to have the safe installed in their property. After discussing the available locations, we recommended the Securikey Euro Grade 1 - 1025N Digital Safe and the under-stair cupboard as the most suitable location.
This Euro Grade One safe is independently certified to EN 1143-1 Grade 1 and carries recommended insurance ratings of £10,000 for cash and £100,000 for valuables. Its compact dimensions also made it well suited to the available cupboard space.
The reason we chose the under stair cupboard is because it offered two useful structural fixing points: the wall behind the safe and the concrete floor beneath the laminate flooring, allowing our installer to secure the safe to the fabric of the building in two instances.
Rear Fixing into the Wall
The Securikey 1025N was first aligned in position inside the cupboard so all the fixing points could be accurately marked. The skirting board markings were also made as it needed a slight trim to make sure the that the safe could get as close to the wall as possible.
After moving the safe clear of the work area, our installer trimmed the skirting board then drilled the wall and floor ready for the heavy-duty expanding anchor bolts. Once the drilling dust had been cleared away, the 75kg Grade 1 safe was repositioned and the rear anchor was tightened securely through the safe and into the wall behind.
Base Fixing Through the Laminate into Concrete
The floor of the cupboard had a laminate finish, but beneath that surface was a solid concrete base, giving the installer an excellent second structural fixing point.
A second heavy-duty expanding anchor bolt was installed through the base fixing point of the safe, through the laminate flooring and directly into the concrete underneath.
With one fixing into the wall and one into the concrete floor, the EuroGrade I safe was securely anchored in both directions while remaining discreetly positioned within the cupboard.
Finished, Demonstrated and Ready to Use
The Securikey Euro Grade 1 - 1025N provides 27 litres of internal storage, one adjustable removable shelf and a digital keypad with a six-digit PIN, giving the customer a practical amount of secure storage without taking up excessive space.
After completing the installation, our installer cleaned the remaining tools and debris from the cupboard and surrounding work area.
The customer was then shown how to programme and operate the digital lock and was given their certificate of installation before our installer left the property.

About Bromley, Greater London BR2
Bromley is one of the principal centres of south-east London and has a history stretching back many centuries. The name was recorded in the Anglo-Saxon period and is generally understood to refer to a clearing or open place where broom grew.
