Why the Sussex Grade 1 Size 1 Was Recommended

London & Home Counties Safes supplied and professionally installed a Sussex Grade 1 Size 1 Digital Safe for a customer in Victoria, Westminster, Central London SW1P.

The customer advised us that their insurer required a Eurograde 1 safe. They wanted the smallest suitable model and needed it positioned at a comfortable standing height because bending down to access a floor-level safe would have been difficult.

Grade 1 Security Required by the Customer’s Insurer

The Sussex safe is independently tested and certified to EN 1143-1 Grade 1. It is normally assigned a recommended insurance rating of £10,000 for cash or £100,000 for valuables.

The customer had advised us that a Grade 1 safe was required for their insurance. Customers should nevertheless confirm the required grade, monetary rating and installation conditions directly with their own insurer before purchasing.

The Smallest Safe in the Sussex Grade 1 Range

The Size 1 measures 410mm high, 335mm wide and 300mm deep externally, with approximately 45mm additional projection for the hinges. Its internal dimensions are 334mm high, 275mm wide and 180mm deep.

The safe weighs 55kg and provides 17 litres of internal storage. One adjustable and removable shelf allows jewellery boxes, watches, cash, passports and documents to be organised across two levels.

Installed at Standing Height for Easier Access

Because of the customer’s mobility requirements, it was important that the safe was not installed at floor level.

The safe was therefore positioned on the elevated section of the fitted wardrobe, above the existing built-in chest of drawers. This allowed the customer to access and operate the safe while standing.

The compact Size 1 dimensions allowed the safe to be positioned neatly above the existing built-in drawers within the wardrobe arrangement.

Bolted Through the Wardrobe Panel into Solid Brickwork

The safe was bolted through the wardrobe’s rear panel and into the solid brick wall behind it, providing a direct structural fixing to the masonry.

For this installation, the recorded structural fixing was through the rear of the safe and into the solid brick wall behind the wardrobe.

The direct rear fixing into the brick wall helped resist the safe being pulled forward or removed from its installed position.

High-Security Electronic Lock

The safe is fitted with a VdS Class 2 electronic lock. It supports two user codes and includes a time-delay facility, allowing the access settings to be configured around the customer’s requirements.

The door also incorporates a fire seal which the product specification describes as offering approximately 30 minutes’ protection at 750°C. This should not be treated as independently certified document-fire protection unless the relevant test certification is available.

Discreet Safe Delivery in Victoria SW1P

The delivery and installation were completed discreetly. The installation team arrived in an unmarked vehicle and kept the safe covered while it was being moved into the property.

This helped avoid unnecessarily drawing attention to the safe delivery or its destination within the building.

Completed Installation and Customer Feedback

The customer was very pleased with both the selected safe and its accessible wardrobe position.

They subsequently left London & Home Counties Safes a five-star Trustpilot review.
