We sell and install free-standing safes, although the name is something of a misnomer.

A free-standing safe intended for insurance purposes will normally need to be securely anchored to the fabric of the building in accordance with the manufacturer's installation requirements.

Wall safes are installed into an opening made within a wall and are normally cemented into position. We do not install wall safes.

Underfloor safes are installed into an opening made in a solid floor and are normally concreted into position. We do not install underfloor safes.

Floorboard safes are normally installed between the joists beneath a suspended timber floor. We do not install floorboard safes.

Buying an insurance-approved safe is only part of the process. The safe also needs to be installed correctly.

In the event of a future insurance claim, your insurer may ask for evidence that the safe was properly anchored and installed in accordance with the manufacturer's requirements.

When we install your safe, we provide you with an installation certificate or receipt recording the installation.

We recommend keeping a digital copy somewhere safe in case the original is ever misplaced.

Your safe will be installed by one of our own vetted and experienced installers, who will arrive in a deliberately unmarked vehicle.

We do not simply sell you a safe and then start searching for an unknown local tradesperson to carry out the installation.

Using our own installation team means that the person arriving at your property is familiar with safes, understands the different fixing methods available and regularly deals with unusual access and installation problems.

Wherever practical, delivery and installation are carried out as one complete service by our own team.

Yes, you can install a safe yourself, provided that you know what you are doing and that the safe is installed correctly.

You should follow the manufacturer's installation instructions and make sure that the fixing method is suitable for the structure to which the safe is being anchored.

If the safe is being purchased for insurance purposes, we recommend documenting the installation carefully so that you have evidence of how it was fitted should your insurer ever ask.

Our safes are typically anchored to a brick or masonry wall, a concrete floor, or sometimes both, depending on the safe and the construction of the property.

Manufacturers will usually specify how their safe should be anchored, but real homes are rarely as straightforward as an installation diagram.

Many properties have timber floors, fitted wardrobes, raised cupboard bases, plasterboard walls, voids or other obstacles.

Over the years we have developed a wide range of installation techniques that allow our experienced installers to overcome many of these problems.

The aim is always the same: to anchor the safe securely to the fabric of the building using the most appropriate fixing method available.

Modern properties can create installation challenges of their own.

Underfloor heating is increasingly common and can mean that drilling into the floor is either undesirable or completely unsuitable.

Many new-build homes also have highly insulated external walls or internal partition walls constructed from plasterboard, metal studs, timber framing or dot-and-dab systems rather than traditional solid masonry.

Where one fixing method is unsuitable, there may be another option, such as fixing through the rear of the safe into suitable structural material or using a specially prepared base.

Once the work has been completed, you will receive an installation certificate or receipt recording the method used.

Nobody knows your home better than you. Before installation day, have a look around your property and identify a few places where you think the safe might work.

Where possible, we generally recommend avoiding the most obvious location in the main bedroom.

Cupboards, wardrobes, dressing rooms, studies, utility areas and other discreet parts of the property can all be possibilities, depending on the construction of the building and the size of the safe.

On installation day, your installer can inspect the locations you have identified and explain the advantages and disadvantages of each.

We can advise you, but you make the final decision about where you want the safe installed.

We will then contact you to arrange a convenient appointment for delivery and professional installation.

When your installer arrives, he will introduce himself and discuss the location you have in mind for your safe.

If you have identified several possible locations, he can inspect them and explain which would provide the best fixing options.

Once you have agreed the final position, the installation will begin.

After the safe has been securely installed, your installer will explain how to operate it correctly and answer any questions you may have.

If you have purchased a digital safe, he can also show you how to set or change your personal user code.

For security reasons, the installer will not choose or set your personal code for you, but he can guide you through the process so that you can do it yourself.

You will also be provided with your installation certificate or receipt confirming the installation.
