A Larger Safe for the Woodman Mews Installation
This Woodman Mews project included a Bloomsbury 40K Size 2 Digital Safe for a customer in Kew Riverside, Richmond TW9.
The Size 2 was selected where more internal storage was required than the smaller Size 1 could provide, while still keeping the safe compact enough for installation within fitted bedroom furniture.
Its flush electronic keypad and relatively shallow body make it particularly practical for wardrobe locations where space and door clearance need to be considered carefully.
Independently Certified to EN 14450 S2
The Bloomsbury 40K Size 2 is independently attack-tested and certified by ICIM to EN 14450 S2.
It has a recommended insurance rating of £4,000 for cash or £40,000 for valuables.
More Storage Without an Oversized Footprint
The Size 2 measures 277mm high, 403mm wide and 355mm deep externally. Its internal dimensions are 260mm high, 390mm wide and 295mm deep.
It weighs 35.5kg and provides approximately 31 litres of usable internal space, almost twice the capacity of the Size 1.
A removable shelf divides the interior into two practical storage levels for jewellery boxes, watches, passports, cash and other personal valuables.
Integrated into the Existing Wardrobe Furniture
The safe was installed within the fitted wardrobe arrangement at the Woodman Mews property and positioned above the built-in drawers.
Using this raised position meant the safe remained hidden behind the wardrobe doors while being easier to reach than a unit installed directly at floor level.
The safe was aligned so that the door, handle and keypad could be operated without fouling the wardrobe frame or adjacent fittings.
Rear Anchoring Through the Wardrobe Panel
The Size 2 is manufactured with four rear fixing holes and four base fixing holes, allowing the fixing arrangement to be adapted to the selected location.
For this installation, expanding anchor bolts were passed through the rear of the safe, through the wardrobe’s back panel and into the brick wall behind the fitted furniture.
The anchors into the brickwork formed the principal structural connection and helped resist the safe being pulled forward or removed from the wardrobe.
Additional Support Through the Safe Base
Screws were also installed through the safe’s base fixing points and into the supporting wardrobe furniture below.
These additional furniture fixings reduced movement at the base and complemented the stronger rear anchoring into the wall.
Setting the Customer’s Digital Code
After the installation had been checked, we guided the customer through the operation of the electronic lock.
The customer was shown how to programme a personal code of between six and ten digits and was then asked to open and relock the safe to ensure they were confident using it.
We also explained the purpose of the external battery power point and advised that the emergency override keys should be kept securely away from the safe.
Final Checks and Tidy Handover
Before leaving, we checked the door movement, keypad operation and stability of the installed safe.
Packaging, drilling dust and installation materials were removed so that the wardrobe and surrounding room were left ready for normal use.
