This safe installation was in the Royal Docks area of East London (E16). For this installation, the client chose the Burton Eurovault Aver LFS Grade 1 (Size 3) Digital Safe. This is a top-tier security solution, boasting a certified Eurograde 1 insurance rating that protects up to £10,000 in cash or £100,000 in valuables. Beyond its physical strength, this model also provides 30 minutes of fire protection for paper documents, making it an ideal choice for safeguarding both high-value assets and essential legal paperwork.

As shown in the photos, the Euro Grade One safe was installed inside a fitted cupboard to keep it discreetly out of sight. This location presented a common hurdle: the cupboard's bottom lip would have obstructed the safe door, preventing it from opening fully. To overcome this, we utilized a custom raised platform known as an 'MDF Packer', which we offer as a specialized add-on. As you can see in the photos, this packer raises the safe to the perfect height, ensuring the door clears the frame for smooth, unobstructed access while maintaining a professional, integrated finish. This raised platform was securely screwed down into the floor using four heavy duty screws.

To ensure the installation met all insurance requirements, we performed a structural bolt-down using the safe's pre-drilled base fixing hole. We secured the unit with a heavy duty screw driven through the MDF packer and deep into the floor beneath, creating a permanent, immovable fixture. Once the safe was locked in place, we explained to the client how to program their high-security digital keypad and walked them through the locking procedures. The Royal Docks is a vast waterfront district situated in the London Borough of Newham, primarily within the E16 postcode. It spans a four-kilometre stretch of East London, bordered by the River Thames to the south, Canning Town to the west, and Beckton to the east. This area is uniquely defined by its three massive basins: the Royal Victoria, Royal Albert, and King George V docks. Transport is a defining feature of the area, as it is served by multiple DLR (Docklands Light Railway) stations and the Elizabeth Line at Custom House, providing rapid transit to Canary Wharf, the City, and the West End. Furthermore, London City Airport is located on a strip of land between the Royal Albert and King George V docks, offering international connections literally from the water's edge. The Royal Docks were constructed between 1855 and 1921, representing the pinnacle of Victorian and Edwardian engineering. They were designed to accommodate the largest iron-clad steamships of the era, which could no longer navigate the narrower reaches of the river further upstream. For over a century, this was the world’s largest enclosed dock complex, acting as a global gateway for the import of tobacco, grain, and frozen meat. However, the advent of containerization in the 1960s rendered the docks obsolete almost overnight, as modern ships grew too large for the lock gates. Following their closure in 1981, the area underwent one of the most ambitious regeneration projects in Europe. What was once a derelict industrial wasteland has been transformed into a hub for business, aviation, and high-density residential living, while carefully preserving the scale and maritime character of the original basins. Visitors to the Royal Docks are greeted by a landscape that blends industrial heritage with futuristic infrastructure. The ExCeL London exhibition centre is a major draw, hosting everything from international tech summits to sporting events. For a unique perspective of the city, the IFS Cloud Cable Car carries passengers across the Thames to Greenwich, offering panoramic views of the docks and the O2 Arena. On the southern edge of the Royal Victoria Dock lies Thames Barrier Park, a beautifully landscaped green space with a "sunken garden" designed to mimic the movement of the river. The area has also become a centre for urban adventure, with the Royal Docks Open Water Swimming and Wakeup Docklands offering water sports right in the heart of the city. More recently, the district's status was elevated by the relocation of London's government to the Crystal building, which now serves as the new City Hall. Historic structures like the SS Robin and the imposing Silo D serve as silent reminders of the area's legendary status as the "pantry of the empire."
