Burton Safes Torino S2 (Size 3E) Digital Safe Fitted in Surrey
(case study 01590)
For this safe installation we visited Woking, in the heart of Surrey, to carry out a high-quality residential security upgrade for a local homeowner. For this project, we supplied and fitted a Burton Safes Torino S2 (Size 3E) Digital Safe. This model is a premier choice for home security because it is EN 14450 S2 rated, making it an insurance-approved safe certified to protect up to £4,000 in cash or £40,000 in valuables. The "Size 3E" provides a spacious interior, as seen in the vibrant red-lined shelving of our project photos, making it ideal for organizing jewellery, passports, and multiple luxury watches.
As shown in the pictures, the safe was installed out in the open in a storage area, providing easy daily access while remaining secure. To ensure the installation met strict insurance mandates, we performed a professional safe bolt-down into the wall and laminate flooring. Using four high-strength expanding anchors, we secured the unit to the wall through the four rear fixing holes. We then screwed the base of the safe to the laminate flooring using four screws. This heavy-duty anchoring is vital for a security safe installation, as it ensures the unit cannot be tipped or removed, providing the homeowner with complete peace of mind.
Once the physical installation was complete, we thoroughly tidied the area and gave the client the handover demonstration. We walked them through the operation of the digital locking mechanism, showing them how to program their unique 6-digit PIN code on the electronic keypad. We also demonstrated the use of the emergency override keys, which are included to ensure you never lose access to your valuables even if the batteries run flat. Woking is a large, modern town located in the heart of Surrey, approximately 22 miles southwest of central London. It falls primarily within the GU21 and GU22 postcode districts and is situated between the towns of Guildford and Weybridge. The town serves as one of the most important transport hubs in the South East, with Woking Railway Station acting as a major junction on the South Western Main Line, offering some of the most frequent and fastest rail connections to London Waterloo. Additionally, its proximity to the M25, M3, and A3 motorways makes it an exceptionally well-connected base for both commuters and regional travelers. The history of Woking is characterized by a fascinating split between the ancient village and the modern town. The original settlement, now known as Old Woking, dates back to the Saxon period and is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 as "Wochingas." For centuries, it was centered around the medieval Woking Palace, which became a favorite royal residence for the Tudor monarchs, including Henry VII and Henry VIII. The trajectory of the area shifted dramatically in 1838 with the arrival of the London and South Western Railway. Because the tracks were laid a mile north of the original village, a "New Woking" began to grow around the station, quickly surpassing the old settlement in size and importance. During the late 19th century, Woking became a pioneer in multi-cultural Britain; in 1889, the Shah Jahan Mosque was completed, becoming the first purpose-built mosque in the United Kingdom. Around the same time, the author H.G. Wells moved to the town, where he used the local landscape as the setting for his seminal science fiction novel, The War of the Worlds, famously imagining the first Martian cylinder landing on nearby Horsell Common. Modern Woking offers a blend of cultural heritage and contemporary leisure facilities. The Lightbox is a award-winning gallery and museum located alongside the Basingstoke Canal, featuring rotating exhibitions of world-class art and a permanent gallery dedicated to the town's history. In the town center, visitors are often greeted by the towering Martian Tripod sculpture, a seven-meter-tall tribute to the town's connection to H.G. Wells. For those interested in religious architecture, the Shah Jahan Mosque remains an architectural jewel with its elegant dome and intricate designs. Nature lovers frequent the Basingstoke Canal for walking and boating, or explore the vast heathlands of Horsell Common. Just outside the main town, Brookwood Cemetery offers a unique historical experience as one of the largest burial grounds in the world, once served by its own dedicated railway from London. Additionally, Woking is the site of the WWF-UK headquarters, the Living Planet Centre, which is one of the greenest buildings in the UK and offers interactive displays on conservation.
