For this installation we visited the charming village of Mayfield in East Sussex to assist a client who needed a substantial security upgrade for their home. After assessing their requirements, we supplied and fitted a Burton Torino S2 Size 4E Digital Safe. This model is a popular choice for homeowners in the TN20 area because of its generous internal capacity and its EN 14450 S2 insurance rating, which provides certified protection for up to £4,000 in cash or £40,000 in valuables. The Size 4 is particularly well-suited for those who need to store bulkier items, such as luxury watch collections or larger stacks of legal documents, without compromising on security.

For this Mayfield safe installation, we positioned the unit on a solid floor to ensure maximum stability. To make the safe as secure as possible and meet all insurance criteria, we used heavy-duty expanding anchors to bolt it firmly into the structure of the wall trough the four rear fixing holes while also screwing the safe down to the wooden floor. This professional anchoring process is vital; it ensures the safe cannot be removed or tampered with, providing a robust physical deterrent. On request of the client, we also installed an Automatic Magnetic Safe Light. This rechargeable USB version is a fantastic addition, especially in larger safes like the Size 4, as it automatically illuminates the interior the moment the door opens, making it easy to find what you need even in a dimly lit corner.

Once the installation was complete and we had tidied the work area, we demonstrated how to operate the electronic keypad, set their secure 6-digit PIN, and explained the charging process for the new magnetic light. We also made sure they were comfortable using the emergency override keys, which provide essential backup access should the batteries ever run out or you forget your PIN code. Mayfield is a historic village located in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in East Sussex, within the TN20 postcode district. It sits on a high ridge approximately 9 miles south of Tunbridge Wells and is part of the civil parish of Mayfield and Five Ashes. The village is characterized by its steep, narrow High Street lined with raised red-brick pavements and a wealth of medieval and Tudor timber-framed buildings. While it no longer has its own railway station, it remains accessible via the A267 road, with the nearest rail links found a few miles away in Crowborough or Frant. The history of the village is famously intertwined with the legend of Saint Dunstan, a 10th-century Archbishop of Canterbury who reportedly founded the local church. According to folklore, Dunstan was working at his forge when the Devil visited him in disguise, leading the saint to seize the Devil’s nose with red-hot pincers. This story is central to the identity of St Dunstan's Church, Mayfield, which was rebuilt in the 14th century following a devastating fire. During the Tudor period, Mayfield became a prosperous centre for the Sussex iron industry, a wealth that is still visible in the grand architecture of the The Middle House, an inn dating back to 1575. The village also served as a residence for the Archbishops of Canterbury, whose former palace now forms part of Tourists visit Mayfield to experience its quintessential English village atmosphere and explore the surrounding countryside. A major local landmark is the Friends Argos Hill Windmill, a rare 19th-century post mill located just north of the village that offers expansive views of the Weald. Outdoor enthusiasts frequently use the village as a base to access the National Trust - Bateman's, the former home of author Rudyard Kipling, is a short drive away in Burwash. The village is also known for its vibrant community traditions, including the annual Mayfield Music and Arts Festival and a historic Bonfire Society parade held every September.
