For this safe installation in Hatfield (AL10), we installed a Bloomsbury 40K (Size 2) Digital Safe for a residential client. The Bloomsbury 40K range is a highly reliable choice for domestic security, offering an insurance-approved rating of £4,000 in cash or £40,000 in valuables. This specific model provides a perfect balance of robust physical protection and ease of use, making it an ideal choice for safeguarding high-value personal items such as jewelry, cash, and passports within a home environment.

The installation was carried out inside the corner of a white built-in wardrobe, a popular choice for homeowners who prefer their security assets to be kept out of sight. As shown in the photos, the safe’s dark finish contrasts neatly with the modern interior of the cupboard, and its compact Size 2 dimensions allow it to sit flush against the side panel. This placement ensured that the unit is easily accessible for the owner while remaining discreet.

To meet the highest security standards and to comply for insurance purposes, we ensured the safe was professionally anchored to the building's structure. This model is designed with versatile mounting options, featuring four base fixing holes and four rear fixing holes. For this project, we utilized these points to bolt the safe securely into both the floor and the rear wall, making it very secure. The rear fixing bolts that went into the holes in the brick wall we had drilled, were expanding anchor bolts. As they are turned, the lower end of the bolt expands inside the hole. Four heavy duty screws were used in the four holes at the base of the safe, as they were screwed into the wooden base of the wardrobe.

We concluded the visit by providing a comprehensive walkthrough of the electronic locking keypad. The safe features a user-friendly digital keypad with clear indicators for battery status and code entry. We showed the client how to set their unique PIN and demonstrated the emergency override keys and where to keep them. Hatfield is a prominent town in the heart of Hertfordshire, with the AL10 postcode covering its northern and central sectors, including the bustling Ellenbrook and Birchwood areas. Positioned approximately 20 miles north of London, it serves as a vital junction between the capital and the East of England. The town is physically defined by its relationship with the A1(M) motorway, which runs through a tunnel beneath the local landscape, and the Great Northern Route. From Hatfield station, commuters can reach London King’s Cross or Moorgate in around 25 minutes, making it an essential node for both the "Silicon Pier" tech corridor and traditional city workers. The story of AL10 is one of radical shifts, moving from aristocratic prestige to the cutting edge of 20th-century technology. For centuries, the town's identity was anchored by the Cecils of Hatfield House, but the 1930s sparked a secondary revolution when Geoffrey de Havilland opened an aerodrome and factory here. This transformed Hatfield into a world leader in aviation; it was in AL10 that the Mosquito (the "Wooden Wonder" of WWII) and the Comet (the world’s first commercial jet airliner) were designed and tested. When the airfield eventually closed in the 1990s, the land was reimagined into the modern Hatfield Business Park and the University of Hertfordshire’s de Havilland campus. This transition effectively turned an industrial powerhouse into an educational and commercial hub, seamlessly blending the town’s flight heritage with a new focus on science and innovation. Today, AL10 is characterized by a high-energy mix of student life and retail therapy. The Galleria is the district's most famous modern landmark—a massive outlet shopping center uniquely built directly over the A1(M) tunnel. For those looking to escape the urban hum, the University of Hertfordshire brings a youthful, international vibe to the area, offering public access to impressive sports facilities and the Weston Auditorium for performing arts. Historical curiosity is satisfied at the de Havilland Aircraft Museum (located just on the outskirts), while the Hatfield Aerodrome Heritage Trail allows visitors to walk the very ground where jet travel was born. For a greener experience, the Alban Way—a flat, scenic trail built on a former railway line—starts here, providing a perfect route for cyclists and walkers to travel all the way to St Albans, passing through local nature reserves and remnants of the town's industrial past.
