De Raat DRS Prisma Grade 1 (Size 0) Digital Safe Fitted in Hatfield
(case study 03304)
In Hatfield (AL9), we fitted a De Raat DRS Prisma Grade 1 (Size 0) Digital Safe. This model is a powerhouse in home security, carrying a certified Eurograde 1 insurance rating, which provides coverage for up to £10,000 in cash or £100,000 in valuables. Despite its compact "Size 0" footprint, it offers serious protection against physical attack, making it an ideal choice for residents looking to secure high-end jewellery or significant cash reserves without occupying a large amount of floor space. You can see the unit perfectly positioned in the corner of a utility area in the photos (click to enlarge).
To ensure the safe meets its full insurance potential, the anchoring must be flawless. For this project, we utilized a dual-axis anchoring system: one base fixing hole secured through the floor tiles and into the concrete floor and one rear fixing hole with an expanding anchor bolt into the masonry wall. This setup virtually eliminates any potential for the unit to be pried away or moved. The safe sits flush against the wall, minimizing leverage points and keeping the installation looking clean and professional alongside existing electrical outlets.
The final step was a full demonstration of the high-security digital lock, which allows for rapid, keyless entry—perfect for those who prefer not to manage a physical master key. In the photos you can see the vault door open, revealing the thick locking bolts and the internal shelf that helps keep smaller items organized. We told the client how to set their personalized access codes and reviewed the simple battery maintenance procedure. Brookmans Park is a premier village in the AL9 postcode of North Mymms, Hertfordshire, situated between the larger towns of Potters Bar and Hatfield. It is widely regarded as one of the most desirable commuter villages in the Home Counties, offering a peaceful, semi-rural environment that remains remarkably well-connected to London. The village is anchored by its own railway station, which sits on the Great Northern route, providing direct services to London King’s Cross and Moorgate with a journey time of approximately 35 to 40 minutes. For motorists, the village is strategically placed near the intersection of the A1(M) and the M25 motorway, allowing for easy travel across the South East and providing a convenient link to both Heathrow and Luton airports. The area’s heritage is rooted in the grand 14th-century Brookmans estate, which for centuries was the primary seat of local power and once home to Lord Somers, the Lord Chancellor to King William III. The current village is a classic example of early 20th-century speculative development; after the original manor house was destroyed by fire in 1891, the estate was sold to developers in 1923. They envisioned a high-end "garden village" that integrated modern housing with the pre-existing natural landscape. A fascinating chapter in its history began in 1929 when the BBC established the Brookmans Park Transmitting Station. This facility was a global pioneer in broadcasting, serving as the site for the world’s first simultaneous transmission of two radio programs and hosting early experimental television tests. The village also boasts a whimsical link to folklore, as Moffats Farm is traditionally cited as the home of Dr. Thomas Muffet, the entomologist believed to have inspired the nursery rhyme Little Miss Muffet. Local life in Brookmans Park revolves around Bradmore Green, a charming cluster of independent shops, cafes, and traditional amenities that maintain a village atmosphere. The Brookmans pub serves as a central social hub, offering a sophisticated gastropub experience in the heart of the community. For those seeking outdoor recreation, Gobions Wood Nature Reserve is a significant local treasure; it is an ancient woodland managed by the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust, featuring the historic Folly Arch and remnants of 18th-century ornamental pleasure grounds. Golfers are well-served by the Brookmans Park Golf Club, where the clubhouse is cleverly housed in the estate's former stable block. The surrounding countryside is crisscrossed by public footpaths, including routes through the North Mymms Park and toward the nearby Royal Veterinary College. While the village itself is a sanctuary of quiet luxury, it serves as an ideal base for exploring major nearby attractions such as Hatfield House, the historic city of St Albans, and the various nature trails of the Potters Bar fringe.
