Putney 60K Size 1 Digital Safe Fitted in Bedfordshire
(case study 02121)
For this case study, our team travelled to Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire (MK44) to complete a professional installation of a Putney 60K (Size 1) Digital Safe. This model is a popular choice for homeowners requiring a high level of insurance-approved protection, offering a certified Eurograde 0 rating. This certification provides coverage for up to £6,000 in cash or £60,000 in valuables, making it ideal for securing high-end watches, jewellery, and sensitive financial documents. As seen in the photos, the safe is positioned discreetly within a storage room, providing an effective layer of hidden security.
Achieving a secure "bolt-down" is critical to maintaining the safe’s insurance validity. For this installation, we utilized a triple-point anchoring system to ensure the unit is virtually immovable. We used the two base fixing holes to screw the safe into the floor and the single rear fixing hole to anchor it directly into the structural masonry wall with a high-strength expanding anchor bolt. This multi-axis attachment prevents the safe from being pried or moved.
To conclude the installation, we walked the client through the operation of the electronic locking system. The digital keypad offers quick and reliable access without the need for physical keys. We showed the client how to program their primary security code and demonstrated the emergency entry override feature (touching a standard 9volt battery to the terminals on the front of the keypad while entering the code) for situations where the internal battery needs changing. Sharnbrook is a picturesque village and civil parish located in North Bedfordshire, falling within the MK44 postcode district. It is situated roughly nine miles north of Bedford and lies just off the A6 road, positioned in a scenic loop of the River Great Ouse. While the village lost its own railway station in 1960, it remains well-connected via the A6 to nearby hubs like Bedford, Milton Keynes, and Northampton. For rail travellers, Bedford station provides frequent services to London St Pancras and the north. Locally, the village is served by bus routes connecting to Bedford and Kettering, and it even boasts its own volunteer-run "Villager" minibus service to support the community's independence. The origins of Sharnbrook are firmly rooted in Saxon times, with its name likely derived from the Anglo-Saxon word "sharn," meaning dung or filth—a somewhat unglamorous reference to the local brook. The village was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as a largely agricultural settlement. Over the centuries, it was characterized by its numerous manors, including Tofte Manor and Colworth House; the latter is a magnificent 18th-century mansion that has evolved from a private estate into a world-renowned research and science park, currently home to Unilever. The 19th century brought a commercial boom with the arrival of the Midland Railway and the flourishing of local trades like lace-making. Today, the village manages to balance its heritage of oolitic limestone cottages with mid-20th-century residential expansion, maintaining its status as a highly desirable rural community. Sharnbrook is a gem for those who appreciate English village life and the great outdoors. The Church of St Peter stands as the oldest building in the parish, featuring a stunning Norman tower and spire that dominates the local skyline. For culture enthusiasts, the Sharnbrook Mill Theatre is a unique highlight; housed in a converted watermill on the banks of the River Great Ouse, it serves as a vibrant hub for performing arts. Nature lovers are well-catered for with the nearby Sharnbrook Summit nature reserve and the Harrold-Odell Country Park, which offers expansive lake walks and water meadows just a short drive away. The village also has a surprising claim to fame in the sporting world, as it is the home of the Paula Radcliffe Sharnbrook Community Sports Centre, named after the legendary marathon runner who attended the local Sharnbrook Academy.
