In this case study we carried out an installation for a client in Belsize Park, located in the prestigious Hampstead (NW3) area of North West London. For this project, the homeowner opted for the Richmond 30K (Size 1) Keylocking Safe, a fantastic choice for those who prefer the traditional reliability of a physical key over a digital keypad. This model is EN 14450 S2 rated, which means it is officially insurance-approved to protect up to £3,000 in cash or £30,000 in valuables. It’s the perfect, compact security solution for protecting high-end watches, jewellery, and sensitive documents within a residential setting.

As you can see from the installation photos, we tucked the safe away inside a fitted wardrobe to keep it discreetly out of plain sight. To ensure the unit met its full security potential and satisfied strict insurance mandates, we performed a professional safe bolt-down service. We used a high-strength expanding anchor to fix the safe into the wall behind and then screwed the base into the wooden shelf. This dual-fixing method ensures the safe is an immovable part of the home’s structure, providing a robust physical deterrent against unauthorized removal.

Once the work was finished, we thoroughly tidied the area and handed the client the two high-security double-bitted keys that come as standard with this model. We also provided some expert advice on key management to ensure their new home security upgrade remains as effective as possible. Belsize Park is an affluent residential neighbourhood located in the London Borough of Camden, primarily encompassed by the NW3 postcode. It is situated on the rising ground between the busy commercial hub of Camden Town to the south and the elevated, village-like atmosphere of Hampstead to the north. The area is defined by its central artery, Haverstock Hill, and is bordered by Primrose Hill to the south and Swiss Cottage to the west. Its strategic position makes it highly accessible, with the Belsize Park Underground station on the Northern Line providing a direct link to the West End and the City, while several bus routes connect it to the rest of North West London. The name Belsize is derived from the French "bel assis," meaning "well situated," which reflects the area's attractive hilltop position. Historically, the land belonged to the manor of Belsize, which was held by the Dean and Chapter of Westminster Abbey for centuries. The transition from a rural estate to an urban suburb began in the early 19th century when the land was subdivided for development, much of it under the ownership of Eton College. This led to the creation of the grand, white-stuccoed villas and wide, tree-lined boulevards that characterize the neighbourhood today. In the 1930s, Belsize Park became a vital sanctuary for artists, architects, and intellectuals fleeing mainland Europe, including figures like Piet Mondrian and Henry Moore. This period also saw the construction of the Isokon Building, a pioneering experiment in modernist communal living that once housed Agatha Christie and members of the Bauhaus movement. For those visiting the area, Belsize Park offers a sophisticated and tranquil alternative to the more crowded parts of London. A significant architectural landmark is the Isokon Building on Lawn Road, which features a small gallery dedicated to its history as a hub for the modern movement. Nearby, the Freud Museum in Maresfield Gardens provides an intimate look at the final home and study of the founder of psychoanalysis. The neighbourhood is also celebrated for its independent spirit, particularly along England’s Lane and Steeles Village, where visitors can find boutique shops, artisan bakeries, and traditional pubs. The Everyman Cinema on Haverstock Hill is a local institution, known for being one of the first to offer a luxury, lounge-style film experience. Additionally, the area serves as a perfect starting point for walks toward Primrose Hill for iconic skyline views or into the vast, wild landscapes of Hampstead Heath.
